"The recruiting dead period is about to end, and the 2018 recruiting cycle is about to get crazy. National Signing Day is on February 7th, and the Vols are making a big push to fill out the rest of their 2018 class. Right now, Tennessee has 14 signees in the class and four other players committed."

I like seeing a long list for D line (6), but surprised only 1 on O line. Did we already sign enough O line guys?

They were only gonna take 1 to begin with... Thought it was gonna be Martinez... Then it wasn't...

Not sure about Martinez, but I believe the other one was asked to look elsewhere - meaning they must like who the eventually picked up, quite well.

If they didn't, there may be 1 or 2 listed as DL that may end up on OL during spring practice. Switching to the 3-4 may mean some of those guys see more playing time on offense.

I'm concerned that the only OL listed is a 3 star JUCO. I think we should be beating the bushes a little more on that position. Other than that I have no real complaints.

Truth be told...Coach Pru knows that Dormady, Guarantano and McBride...All three of 'em...are very talented; just need some development, of which they'll get plenty with this staff. Ll their experience helps big time, and hopefully they'll all stick around. RBs are looking good. DBs and LBs need to be stockpiled, along with some serious DL monsters. I'd like more OL fellas brought in. 'Don't get that one since we'll need lots of help there. One or two WRs and at least one more athlete-type should make Coach To happy. Top Ten looks probable. Top five is iffy.

Yep. Reader view in Safari cleaned it up perfectly for me; I didn't even know it was a slideshow.

I guess you guys missed how our 3 played this season. But you know, we only need one...

that has nothing to do with it. they would have taken Martinez. Shrout was a reaction to Martinez going to NE.

they were only going to take 1 this class, regardless. and they're going to go after a blue chipper in 19 and 20 i would bet.

this class is all about immediate needs, and depth, on the OL, DL, and LB. there's urgency at DB as well, and they want a bonafide playmaker at WR.

they've already signed 5 OL in this class, iirc. getting VAlentin would bring it to 6, which would be great considering the shape the OL is in currently. and the two Jucos will be expected to play this year. which is key.

Just because you disagree doesn't mean we don't need to find more options this year.

it's not about me disagreeing as much as it is just restating what the plan was. they weren't going to take more than 1 qb this cycle, that's not an opinion. it just happened to wind up being Shrout instead of Martinez.

remember, they processed Penix. we had two committed at one point. they didn't expect Martinez to drop out at that point in time.

I'm not trying to be contrary. But I don't recall seeing anything that said we were only going to take one. Point me in the direction of where I can find that.
