The Walking Dead

Shane wasn't only thinking about Shane. He was thinking about Lori. The similarities are dead on. I think it's awesome that they've blurred the lines. It's realistic after what this group has been through. And of course Rick wants to take the town.

It would be hard to not want to take the town. They are clearly weak. They aren't even in the same dimension as Rick's group. It would be too easy.

I really didn't like how even the fight was between Rick and Pete. I know it adds some action to the episode and so on. I just didn't like it. I wanted Rick to just beat the hell out of him. At the end when Rick says "touch her again and I'll kill you" I was thinking.. Well he about whooped your tail so I don't know if you're in the position to be acting like you just destroyed him.

Yeah, was not expecting drinky Pete to go toe to toe with officer friendly.

The Shane/Rick comparisons are valid. Only difference between them now is Shane was naturally that way and rick has adopted unapologetic brutally as a vehicle to survive the environment and circumstances they've been presented with.

Rick remains the most unpredictable character on the show; you never know when the madman is coming out. You can see him struggling with it the moment they walked into alexandria.

Shane was much more linear and deliberate in his actions and responses

He's emotional because he should be. And his actions are justified. If it were my own brother beating his wife, his teeth down his throat.

Well, you aren't being trusted with upholding law and order. It's not his brother. He hardly knows the people, and he can't control himself or make good decisions. All things considered, spousal abuse is not worth risking him and his allies being exiled. This is life or death.

I found it hilarious/politically hypocritical for Deanna to know about the spousal abuse but get on a soapbox about how "this is civilization" when discussing the issue with Rick.

the rick/shane comparison was pretty obvious to me. the intentions and reasons might not be the same, but the execution is extremely similar. hell, it's been progressing over the past several episodes.

I disagree. Shane was threatening anyone who challenged him in his group or simply anyone that had input or advice. Shane was bonkers where Rick is passionate but rational.

While I agree with you at first Pete outmatches Rick by both height and weight. There is something to bulk when it comes to fighting. Bigger guys who know how to throw their weight around are going to be a challenge period.

Shane really had no control over his anger where Rick's anger has only come out when it was necessary. Biting the guys neck out, and confronting Pete are two prime examples. You haven't seen Rick really tear into anyone in his group over something minor like Shane did. Shane even threatened Dale back in the day. Shane was irrational.

Right! Completely ineffective leadership. Her answer to a problem is to clearly do nothing about it and hope it gets better on it's own.

I agree he definitely had the size advantage on Rick. I guess I was just remembering back to episodes like the one you mentioned where he ripped the guys neck out. Rick was walking around Alexandria with this look on his face as if he was losing his sanity for a minute. I was really expecting him to go all savage. There was this awesome build up where I was like he's hes about to tear into this guy.

because beating the near life out of a guy (possibly killing him had he not finally been convinced not to), knocking your son away to the ground when he tries to stop you, and most importantly pointing an armed weapon at a bunch of unarmed people for no reason while *cough cough* threatening and challenging them, is completely rational.

Rick is not Shane. Hopefully, he never does fully become Shane (I wouldn't expect him to). But the dude has been 100% reflecting several shades of Shane's character since they've gotten to Alexandria.

I was hoping the husband would have a bit less fight in him though. Rick didn't just whip his ass. He actually put up a good fight.

Did anyone catch Carol's sly grin she had going on? She was eating it up when Rick went nuts. Lol

Jmo, Rick was trying hard to NOT kill him.

Carol or the shows favorite actor.

I'd rather it not be Carol or any of the original group. I'm afraid it might be Carol though.

He lost his cool but nobody died, especially not Pete.

He said as much when Pete asked who he thought he was?

I've been calling the Shane similarities for weeks. I even said he would justify it by saying he could protect Jesse and the boys which were his exact words. And although he said he would only do it for her, his hesitation to answer was clearly 'no' even though his lips said 'yes'.

You can't blame Deanna for doubting her decision about Rick now. Since they have arrived more drama than they have experienced has erupted which included her son getting killed. I wish we had seen Glen's video of his story to Deanna.

Oh... And points to Coug for being the only one who didn't think Enid took Rick's hidden gun. He was also the closest as to who it actually was.

There was also lots of foreshadowing of the zombies getting in if anybody else noticed.

The zombie group attacking the construction site.

Aaron - "there's more of them here than there ever was before". Talking to Daryl in the woods.

Sasha, Michonne, Rosita all tackled a big group of them.

Another group of them passed by Carl and Enid.

Noah - "I think those walls could be pushed in". Talking to Deanna's husband.

The group of zombies banging on the fence during the Rick/Pete fight that Sasha was sniping.
