The Walking Dead

I'm a bit torn, because I do think the writing and acting is better, but I agree it was a pretty slow episode.

And I had to laugh at Rick shooting the rope holding the logs. It was at the same time a cool scene yet still reminded me of something you'd see in Z Nation.
Why use the axe on my hip to cut the rope? I'll just shoot it with my rifle from 5 feet away.

Rick should have just killed the remaining saviors who refuse to work together.

Also, why did Rick shoot the rope with a rifle instead of using his axe? I understand they’re trying to make it “action packed” but it was still unnecessary.

Yeah that's the part I found to be very silly. Not only is it wasting bullets (though that never is a concern on this show), but is he just going to keep trying to shoot it if he kept missing. That would have been kind of funny if that's how Rick is taken out, dying because dang it he's going to shoot that rope!

I liked this episode. Good bit of character development without the melodrama speeches they’ve been doing for years.

S9 Ep 2 got a 4.95 rating; which is the 3rd lowest in the show's history.

I’m kind of surprised by that rating.

Through two episodes of Season 9, already looks better than all of Season 7-8.

Probably due to the fact that Rick is leaving the show.

The past 2-3 seasons have been awful. I almost didn't even start this season. Only reason I gave it a shot was they have a new showrunner. It's shown some improvement, but I don't know if they can get all the fans back. Rick/Maggie leaving isn't helping either.

I think they announcing Rick leaving has backfired. And I also think combined with Fear's ratings dropping that it's pretty good proof that the zombie wave crested a few years ago.

I read a funny comment on Twitter; it was pointed out Rick was able to take out a pretty tiny rope in 2 shots from over 10 feet away, but just kept firing blindly and missing Negan from 5 feet away.

well i think they arched the saviors/war story about as far as they could. and the story just got stale. bad.

i think fans of the show were more than ready for that story to end and let's gone with what happens next.

i think the promise of different stories in the aftermath have people hopeful. but everyone's already keyed up on the redundancy of the show, so any little thing will stick out like a sore thumb.

i've watched from the beginning, and it's one of my favorites all time. but the last two seasons were just not good.

i like what i've seen for the most part thru two episodes. we'll see how it goes.

Ratings will bottom out after that. Lots of people going to use that as their jumping off point.

If they drop significantly after the drop that's already happened, then AMC needs to seriously think about making Season 10 the last one.

Also I'm guessing since it's been said AL had 6 episodes left and 2 from now will only be 5 that Rick will show up in a flashback, probably in the season finale or something.

Apparently John Berthnal is supposed to come back as Shane in Rick’s final episode as a hallucination sequence.

Along with Sasha & Hershel.

Unfortunately I think they will drag it out another 2-3 seasons as long as ratings are “good”. They will cut the budget on FX though and the bad CGI will start looking like old syndicated Hercules show.

Thought this was a pretty good episode. I wasn’t expecting the twist with the Ocean Side girls. The way Daryl and Maggie turned their backs was cold blooded.

Finally starting to address the helicopter too.

Ricks final episode on Nov. 4th
I haven't watched the show in a long time, so I don't know what all is going on, but I kind of hope they don't kill him.

Maybe he just leaves the group and heads "home" to Georgia. His part of the show ends how it began, with a slow ride through town on horseback, old characters come back in flashbacks, not hallucinations, and it ends with him closing the door to his old house behind him.

Cliche, I know. But damn.

I just don’t know how storywise it would make any sense for him to just leave.

it never made sense to me that the grass in front of the Atlanta CDC was neatly trimmed despite the months-old ZA.

lots of things about the show have never made sense

I’d kinda like to see him ride off so speak. That way they could bring him back for the series finale whenever it gets to that.

True, but in this case they might as well have Rick say "I'm leaving for a while. I don't want to be killed off, but I don't want to be on the show either, so I gotta go make sure I turned off the oven in my old house in Atlanta. I'll be back for the finale".

Also

Maggie is leaving the show around the same time, and it's been said she's for sure not dying. So with Morgan pulling the "I'm outta here" last season and her doing it, I'm not sure how you're going to be able to really write 3 major characters just leaving in the span of about 6 episodes.
