What an opportunity, to have one, if not the best program in women's B ball to be handed to you. Pat was not bigger than the program, she was the program.

how was it handed to her? She helped pat build the program.

It's easy to get caught up in your emotions. Ask yourself this question. If Nick Saban retired, would Alabama hire his assistant to fill his shoes?

Holly was loyal to Pat for 27 years. Just because you stick around doesn't mean you automatically get the job. If Holly was a great coach is what UT deserves she would have left years ago. JMO

My ? is why didnt she ever take a HC job somewhere else - 27 years is a long time -- hope she does well GVL

bwaaaaaaaaahahahahah. Michigan state did that (when Saban left), and it failed MISERABLY. (Bobby Williams. GREAT assistant. Sucked as HC)

However, Basketball staffs operate differently, AND Coach Summitt gave this one her full blessing as well. I think that speaks volumes. and with that Im going to add 2 names
Jud Heathcote
Tom Izzo

If things get tough the first couple years, just remember what Tom Izzo has done after taking the program at Michigan State over from his Mentor. I think the state of LadyVolsBasketball is in good hands.

Because she loves the school and the program. Somewhere in some interview I read. . sigh. . somewhere. . . she came right out and said "why would I want to go somewhere else when we are the top program in the country and every other program is measured by what we do" paraphrased, but not by much.

+ 1,000,000,000

i think our program will take a serious nose dive over the next 3 seasons with holly at the helm. We will lose any edge that we had in the recruiting arena and that will take us from a top # 5 program to a top #25 program.
The only way that she may succeed would be if this season, she had her hands tied, so to speak, because pat was still around. Maybe just maybe it will be different, now that the team is her's. I don't put much faith in that, though.
We lost alot of players due to graduation and now the team will be more youthful and in experienced but the schedule will not get any easier.
We used to think that a 10 loss season was a bad season. Now, we will see 10 loss seasons on a regular basis.
I equate this to fulmer leaving the program and randy sanders being named the head football coach.
It is a disaster waiting to happen.
By the time that holly is fired, the program will not be recognizable and no coach with any previous success will take the job.

I back Holly because like her, I'm loyal to Tennessee. That's what fandom IS. Duh!

I think for many folks here, they should just back Baylor in WBB for their own peace of mind. Proven winner returning the nation's best player. No brainer.

If I were starting a women's college basketball program today, I'd ask Pat Summitt who she would hire as the coach. If Holly Warlick is good enough for her, I'm willing to take my chances.

Pat picked Holly, she knows what she's doing and knows who to pick. A meltdown and lack of faith is what the enemies are preaching on the recruiting trail right now. I, for one, have a ton of faith in Holly, she was picked by Pat, and if we back Pat, we back Holly.

Exactly
