The Weightlifters Thread

You heavy lift guys, do you take any preworkout supps? I take one on leg days. I'm currently on Pre Jym.

I gotta have a little something extra on leg days. I only squat 225 12 times on average. I leg press 450 5 times.

I am on coffee and that's it right now...I will start Friday with my pre workouts plus vitamins and post workout stuff...MP (Muscle Pharm) swole stack...plus extra creatine

That's as good as anything, IMO.

Not a heavy lifter, but I just go with coffee, myself. Make sure you give yourself like 30-40 minutes for it to kick in.

Plus it's good motivation. "I took this Preworkout, so if I wuss out and don't get a good lift, I'm wasting money."

It's Squat day on Wndlers program...52lb buffalo bar

5 reps

Warmup-142
Warmup-232
Warmup-322

1st set-382
2nd set-437
3rd set-502 only got 4 reps...was wore the $&@/ out bc I have a touch of bronchitis...wore really light knee wraps...going to order some new knee sleeves since I ripped my last ones in half

Broke my arm tonight. Both bones in the lower arm. I go to see an orthopedic surgeon tomorrow.

My powerlifting days may be done.

Anyone have an opinion on a 5x5 program? My normal routine is similar; heavy, compound movements on the big lifts with a barbell. The difference is I do a four day split and add isolation movements. Usually around 50-60 heavy reps for each muscle group per week (sets in the 4-6 rep range).

I like the idea of a 5x5 for the sake of efficiency, but it's obvious that my physique would begin to lack if this is all I did (middle and rear delts would lag if all I did was military press, no focus on arms, what would my back look like with only deadlifts and barbell rows, etc). Any opinions?

Broke it at the gym? Sorry to hear that man.

If it's any consolation, lifting purely for physique is great.

What body fat percentage are you at?

I'd guess somewhere in the 12-15% range, not sure. I'm just about to start cutting. Going to Lake Powell in 3 weeks, so hopefully I can get to about 10%. I figure that would put me at about 190 lbs (I'm 200-203 lbs on the reg, lately). I'm 6' 2"

Awesome work, man. That's some good competition.

Thanks man. I did a 15 week cut. Bulked up to 195 and dropped down to 165. I was at 3% body fat the day of. I maintained all of my muscle, and my strength stayed the same until about 2 weeks out. Then I plateaued, of course the week of I had to do glycogen depletion. The diet wasn't too bad this year. Just the last 2 weeks were rough. I did a clean bulk, so I guess that helped out a lot.

Very good work, Otter!

This past week I hit a PR that I have been after for a while. I squatted 300 for 3 reps. It's a warm-up weight for the ones who post in here regularly but I'm proud of it. One day I will get 400 for 3!
