The Will to Win

We gave up 25pts in the 2nd half to a team that kept their starters in the entire time. A team without a fighting attitude that won't except playing less than hard all the time regardless of the score wouldn't have done that.

I disagree with that assessment, Usually the winning team loses their focus and intensity when they have such a commanding lead.....I agree that our team plays hard and I think Coach is going to get the job done but he still has a lot to prove on the court and in recruiting.

I feel that a lot of our fans want him to succeed so bad that they hang on to anything as a positive sign.

You seem so beaten down from last night. I am not discouraged at all by it. I have been in that building many times before and I expected what happened. Its going to be a fight to make the NIT and what I saw last night this team will give us that fight.

No not beaten down just trying to be rational. Right now it look like finishing around .500 an making the nit is a bet case scenario(except sec t win). So all in saying is that with basically the same team next year if ccm can improve us by 7 or 8 wins and get us into the tournament that is an accomplishment. That will make me feel very good about his ability to coach and develop players, and that his system will be a success here. I feel goo about him but results speak, if he improves us to that point next year that's an impressive coaching job.

I don't have an issue with this opinion but was that your stance yesterday at this time? Nothing that happened last night should change where you think the program is and is heading in my opinion. Last night was about a vastly more experienced and talented pissed off team playing at home in a bounce back game and an inexperienced team coming off a huge home win heading on the road. It was a classic let down spot for a young team.

I felt yesterday prior to the game that they were best case scenario a 18-13 team that may make the tournament. After the game it just seems they can't win on the road against good teams, not that I was surprised by the loss just made it more of a reality they aren't ready for road games. So bama on the road that I thought was a win maybe no longer looks good. That is all, my expectations have slightly lowered by a game or 2 for this year mainly just the road games remaining not a huge change of opinion. So now that I'm envisioning 16-15 or so, if ccm impoves us by 7-8 games and gets us inthe tournament that's an impressive job. Any coach that improves pretty much the same team by that much is an impressive coaching job. Basically, my opinion on the coach hasn't changed i still feel good about him just curious what e can do with this team next year. My opinion changed on the team for this year that's all, they aren't mentally tough enough at this point.

Does that make any sense lol?

I understand you point of view but I think anybody that had visions before yesterday of this team being a tourney team as an at large team wasn't seeing the facts. The coaching transition cost us a number of wins early in the year and now we are just too inexperienced to win the elite road games necessary to make up for those games lost early in the year. We all need to realized that even really good teams lose on the road in this league. Ky was 2-6 last year on the road. I would take 2 road wins for our team right now and be happy. A winning season would be an accomplishment after the games we lost early in the year. I chalked those up to the coaching transition.

I seem to remember you talking about us having chances of making the tournament, no? At this point I'm very happy with a 16-15 season, trip to NIT, an a good showing there. To me that would have to be considered a successful season. JMO

The only time I was talking tourney was after Maui and that stopped very soon after that. We have been as low at 275 in the RPI and last I saw we are in the mid 100s. There shouldn't have been any expectation of that happening since Christmas IMO.

I don't think people expected it just talked that they had a chance. IMO there's moving wrong with being hopeful, now if people were saying I expect it that's a different story.

There was always a much better chance that we make a run the SEC tourney. The biggest issue I see there is our physical play will be very hard for four straight days. Maymon and Stokes would have an issue with that I fear.

Very very true. As I said I'm more than happy with a 16-15 record and nit appearance and good showing.
