The World Wars

I was extremely disappointed by the program. I enjoyed the WWII color footage that they released a year or two ago much more than this program.

Just watched the first one. Thought it was pretty good, and it kept my wife interested.

the history and storyline were great, but there were a lot of small inconsistencies as far as what they showed. Seemed like every flag they showed had all 50 stars on it. The funniest part to me was watching Soldiers jump into France right before Churchill took over out of C-130s tailgate style.

Couldn't believe no mention of Ike or Nimitz. I suppose their WW1 stories didn't add any enough drama.

This was def a watered down version of events. I recommend the Ken Burns WW2 documentary or WW2 in HD to get the full scope of both theaters.

Notice the part about cutting the military to focus on infrastructure?

Negotiating appeasement with those not really interested in peace?

This series seems to offer a sensationalized account of the wars; which I can understand might rub the hardcore history buffs the wrong way. It's entertaining, nonetheless.

Any six hour series that attempts to cover something as massive in scope and complexity as both World Wars and the "interlude" between them is going to be a pretty watered down version.

Just finished it up last night. One complaint I haven't seen mentioned was nothing mentioned of Operation Torch in 1942.

Want a good WW2 doc, watch the World at War. It's 40 years old but I haven't seen anything that comes close to its depth.

Docs made today are all fluff, not much substance.

Do they even cover half the stuff in history class that was in this documentary?

I had no idea they used inflatables to fool Hitler on D-Day.

If Hitler hadn't had his head so far up his own rectum he really could have been so much worse. Like when he decided to take Stalingrad instead of Moscow, and continuing to think the attack was going to happen from Calais.

Yep, Thank goodness!
