The WRASSLIN’ Thread

Cena added to the SS 5 on 5 for the Smackdown Live team.

I am hoping Charlotte beats Natalya so she faces Alexa.

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were sent home this week, rumors are they purposely botched their segment with New Day Tuesday night and have been openly complaining about their position with the company backstage.

I missed the botching? Just rewatched it and I'm not seeing anything stand out in the initial segment

Apparently New Day was supposed to beat them down. However Owens bailed early and Zayn rolled out of the ring, preventing that from happening.

I enjoyed that doc. Wish they spent more time explaining how great he was in ring and how he changed the genre, but it’s a human interest story.

I thought they hit on that a little bit. I am not a wrestling fan at all but enjoy watching the promos and bits of individual wrestlers, Ric Flair in particular. At one point in the doc they contrasted Flair with Hulk Hogan, with Hogan simply admitting that Flair was a much better wrestler than him.

The quote that struck me, which isn't surprising but I have never fully thought about it, was when Flair said he "wasn't home" from about 1973 to 1999. That is simply incredible.

Man Survivor Series is shaping up to be a super fun card.

Miz/Corbin
Usos/The Bar
Shield/New Day
Styles/Lesnar
(Hopefully) Charlotte/Bliss
Raw vs Smackdown teams are pretty stacked.

It will not happen but I want HHH to pop out Monday night amd take over Jason Jordan's spot.

Those words from the Hulkster really struck me. You know he has an ego that's bigger than the sun, so for him to defer to Flair like that shows how much respect, if not admiration, he has for him.

The only match im not looking forward to is Miz/Corbin.

Yep. He claimed he told people that at the time, which I doubt, but I thought that was a strong statement coming from him.

It's striking how different those two were in their styles despite both being professional wrestlers. Of course the whole thing is choreographed and a gimmick, but Flair's character is so much more authentic-seeming and believable, despite him being incredibly over the top. Hogan's character seemed like something a bunch of WWE executives meticulously researched and developed over a period of years while Flair's character seemed like he truly was just stepping in front of a camera and winging it. I'm not sure Hogan would know what to do if he wasn't told by someone else, but everything Flair did was his own deal.

Flair was the greatest wrestler. Hogan was the greatest attraction. I don't think either of them would argue.

Miz is not subpar in the ring.

I am not sure what a Miz/Corbin program does for anyone unless you want Corbin to pick up a win over a vet with a name.

There was a time when I was annoyed by all things Miz but you have to respect a guy that manages to last as long as he has.

I guess. I still think his only strength is the mic. Thing there is he’s top 3 or 4 in the company in that dept.

He’s gotten better at selling/jobbing, but he’s still bad at it.

Shield will have their first match tonight against Miz/The Bar.

Also, could have a big return by a former Women's champion.
