The WRs and Jason Croom

We go about ten deep at the WR position with guys that can play. Gamble a walk-on is even making a lot of noise for reps.

I hope I am wrong, but I see Croom getting lost in the shuffle, most likely a Red Zone guy but don't seem him getting much time ahead of North, Malone, Pearson, Smith, Pig and maybe even Johnson and Wharton.

Once Jones fully implements his offense we will need a lot of WRs for rotation. He will see time for sure.

I know it seems like an obvious statement but if Jason Croom lives up to his potential, my goodness, this WR group will be dangerous. Probably the deepest WR group we've had in a very long time.

I'm not sure what my point is, I'm just excited for some football
I am an unabashed Croom fan. I see this youngster having a breakout year. That said, how'd you like to be a 5'10" DB & seeing 2 freight trains named Croom and North on the field head hunting for a block? I might be inclined to be tying my cleats on that play ...like a Notre Dame "heistman" linebacker dat don't want no mo.

It's a little difficult to see Croom getting a bunch of opportunities considering the guys around him. And I just don't know that he is explosive enough at*wr. He would be dynamite at te. But at this point he might not have time to learn blocking schemes ect to swap. The thing is... The coaches and Croom know way more (obviously) than any of us so we just have to trust they have a plan to fully utility Croom unique size. I have always looked at his body type and likened him to ashlon Jeffery. And obviously it worked out for him. Maybe he'll bring it this year

A team can always use a big, possession receiver in its arsenal to help keep the chains moving. You can't throw it deep on every play. Croom was very good at this last year and I don't see it changing.

watching some of the practice videos is intimidating seeing J Croom running at you full speed, the muscle he has put on will help him get on the field.

He is learning to use his body more with leverage and will find a spot somewhere in the game to show out, all WR are going to be beast mode this year. Looking for the YAK in all of them.

I don't know why the coaches didn't turn Croom into a TE last year. He's got a total TE body type, I don't think he's got a pro future as a WR, and we had NO pass-catching TE last year--big weakness--and he didn't contribute much as a wideout. We'll see what happens this year.

I don't understand this at all. He was a freshman last year, and had close to 300 yards receiving, with 234 coming in the last 8 games. He may not have been an all SEC player last year, but how many freshman WR's are? If he makes steady progress each year, he could easily be the kind of WR that puts up 7-800 yards and 7-8 touchdowns. And he is one helluva blocking WR when he needs to be.

And moving him to TE??? We had awful WR's last year as well. We needed him there too. And he was a freshman playing in a new system. You can't just throw him over to TE and pray for the best. It takes some adjustment. And if you mean that we could use him at TE this year...we have two excellent TE's starting out as freshmen right now.

Calm down and watch Croom develop. He will be an incredible weapon for the Vols this season and moving forward.

A great crop of WRs is wasted without a great QB to use them to our advantage. I fear the lack of talent at the QB will net us a "meh" for the season in the passing game.

Croom and his current situation reminds me a lot of David Martin. A tweener in college that might end up somewhat lost in the shuffle due to being a part of one of the most talented WR corps in the country. Martin had a great career at TE in the NFL, though, which is very possible for Jason.

This is exactly what I was thinking. North and Croom blocking downfield for Hurd. Someone is going to get hurt.

NFL wants a H-back, TE, WR blocking pass catcher with sprinter speed

I love to see Croom as a 3rd TE. He could do some major damage on fade routes or jump balls in the end zone.

From day one, Croom's measurables and skill sets have been outstanding.... He should be healthy this year and will have had plenty of reps to know his routes.... It is all up to him now... will he step up?

Nothing better than a trio of tall WRs to jump high for endzone catches. With North and Croom that puts the dbs at a major disadvantage.

Let's just wait until they play a SEC game or two before call this group anything but inexperienced, because that is the best word to use when describing the WR's as a group. They may be talented and have a lot of potential but they must prove it on the field against top competition.

If Croom turns out to be a stud who does he jump on the current depth Chart? 20-25 balls per game to go around, including RBs and TEs.
