Florida man arrested after taking meth to sheriff's office for testing

Posted: Thu 8:21 AM, Jun 14, 2018

PALATKA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Florida man was arrested after complaining to deputies that he might have been sold the wrong drug.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that 49-year-old Douglas Peter Kelly was charged Tuesday with possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies say Kelly called the sheriff’s office earlier Tuesday and explained that he had bought some meth about a week earlier. He said he had a bad reaction after smoking the drug and asked if deputies could test the narcotic’s quality.

At a detective’s invitation, Kelly drove to the sheriff’s office and handed over a clear, crystal-like substance wrapped in aluminum foil. Authorities say it field-tested positive for methamphetamine, and Kelly was arrested.

Kelly was being held on $5,000 bail. Jail records didn’t list an attorney.

Is Florida Man really New York/Jersey/Ohio/Michigan Man? :)

Now, if any of these stories originated in Gulf or Wakulla counties, Florida Man would be more fitting. Haha

Holly crap! Pruitt should be recruiting her.

I hope they find her soon and in good heath.

It is a huge problem in SF, Oakland and Berkeley. I cleaned up human excrement and soiled clothing from the sidewalk in front of our business in Berkeley when I was there, I was not about to ask my employees to do this. We finally ordered and paid for a porta potty and a box for discarded needles to help keep the area cleaner. We met with cops, city officials and homeless advocacy groups many times.

Oregon woman finds mountain lion napping in her home: 'This is wild' | Fox News

Story seems innocent enough. But then......

- After entering the home, the cat was startled by Taylor's roommate, who screamed upon seeing the mountain lion. This prompted the wild animal to hide behind the sofa, where it snoozed for several hours.

Taylor made a noise to wake the feline, but then “gazed lovingly into her eyes, and communicated using feline-speak eye blinking to calm her,” she wrote.

“It was amazing to realize that this worked. I gazed lovingly then blinked hard and then she did it back,” Taylor continued, adding that the cat then went back to sleep. “She clearly felt safe and she showed no inclination to leave."

When the cat awoke a second time, Taylor said she “again connected in a loving gaze and communicated trust through blinking.”

With just “a couple hours to dawn,” Taylor decided it was time to “prompt her to leave without alarming her so much that she panicked.”

The Oregon woman then used a drum to encourage the lion to exit the home. -

Speaking of big cats, a lady in Townsend caught an image of a panther on her home surveillance camera.

I'll see if I can find a link.

lol
I like her. She probably lives an amazing life, even if she doesn't.

I love that it occurred to her to gently prompt the cat's exit with a drum, of all things.
