They certainly made a difference in our attempt to make a comeback. But we got ourselves in a hole by poor discipline in the secondary and inept offense due to pre-snap penalties.

The correct way to look at this is Tim Banks and Huepel wet the bed and when they got things better the refs stopped any chance of a comeback.

t most I’m willing to say the refs made dumb calls/no calls that took 6-10 points off the board. But then I see us jump on an obvious 4th down gimmick and I just laugh.

Florida went for the throat early and we folded up and let them dominate us. Once we got our heads out of our Burt’s the refs made sure we had no chance to dig ourselves out of the hole, but it was definitely on us for being in the hole.

Other way around, man. The officials made mistakes, and two of them in particular might have cost Tennessee some points in the third, but Tennessee itself was the difference maker - or not-difference-maker, as the case may be.

Last I checked there's 4 quarters in football. Who cares if we were down after 2 quarters. Guess what? There's 2 more quarters still to be played and we literally owned the last 2 quarters. Refs were horrible plain and simple. We definitely had the momentum and the defense to make a comeback. We were only down 2 and a half scores. That's nothing. Especially when their QB was banged up. Refs absolutely played a huge roll in tonight's loss. Commentators even backed that up the whole game.

Doesn't excuse our first half play by any means. Heupel has to be better. We have to be better. And the refs need to be better as well.
