Good win against UGA. I'm not convinced they are very good, and their record vs their talent (at least last night) seems like a mirage. I just didn't see one difference-maker in that whole bunch, but maybe it was just an off-night.

1. Second half defense was solid. Holding UGA to 6 FGs in the half was pretty impressive. We recovered well on switches, forced bad shots, and contested good shots. We didn't hit any of the benchmarks I've detailed this season for success (50%+ FG% and 35%+ 3-point FG%), and still won by 19. That's good defense.

2. Jordan McRae took 5 shots (only 2 3-pointers) and we won going away. I'm wondering if he got the message? Because...

3. Stokes was a freaking man inside. I'll take 20 & 11 from the big fella every night. 9-13 shooting too, so he didn't waste a lot of his looks. He even threw in 3 blocks and 3 assists to boot.

4. We still take too many 3's. Dino Gaudio kept pointing it out. That is a court discipline issue that needs to be corrected. Just because you are open doesn't make it a good shot.

5. Player of the game: Jarnell Stokes. Man amongst boys in that game.

I agree Stokes was the MVP of the game, but I also thought J. Richardson had a nice game as well. The block by A. Moore after sprinting the length of the court was my play of the night though. Loved the effort and hustle!

Dino's buy out ends this season.
Probably pick him up on the cheap.
Fired because he lost to the 2010 KY championship team in the NCAA. Top 10 recruiting class. Had a #1 ranking that season. wins over Duke and NC.

Jaw Jaw was just awful down low, which allowed Stokes to work. Not taking anything away from Stokes awesome job. My concern is when we play teams with good inside defense what happens. When we play teams with good inside defense do we have plays we can run to set up Stokes to take advantage of his skill set and also enough out front movement and screens to get Mc good looks?

Shooting too many quick threes is a problem. Of all people, Thompson, Reese, and Armani should be the last.

If it's deep in the shot clock, and they're open then it's one thing.

You could tell from the opening tip that UGA was tired. A little bit of reading about them told me that was their 3rd game in 8 days while battling the flu bug throughout the team. So we really learned nothing about our Vols other than how Stokes and McRae go - goes the team. Richardson's involvement in the offense has been the key in playing well against better teams. Barton finally helped them for a game. But that cannot be counted on.

Same old same old on O was all that was needed because UGA was not able play tight on their assignments. That made it easy. When the opponent plays tight, pressing D our guys struggle because we have no real PG and the offensive system is too simplistic with minimal adjustments from the coaches.

The best time to shoot a 3 is in transition when the person running the break penetrates and kicks. Other then that, no one should be shooting threes on this team other then McRae, Josh, and Barton (when he's standing there waiting for it and not trying to create it himself). Stokes needs the ball 15+ times a game, and when they start doubling him he has to learn to kick the ball to the open man for a open jump shot. It's imperative that Barton, Josh, and McRae play the 2 on 2 game with Stokes so that once he's doubled they are the ones left open to shot the ball.

Very ugly game, I feel asleep in the second half. Even when they win by 19 it's not very exciting. Bring Back Bruce!

Depends on who is shooting it. If it's anyone other than the ones mentioned, I think the %s are better just taking it to the rim. Particularly if Stokes and Maymon are trailing

Stokes is playing for the NBA right now.

For sure. Like I've said before I wouldn't mind OKC using their late 1st rounder on him. They need a solid rebounder and I think he can do what Collison and Perkins does for a whole lot cheaper.

After that block the crowd got up and everybody was fired up and Cuonzo called a time out. It seems like he does that every game when we're set to make a run. He sure knows how to kill our momentum.

We could hit a last second shot to win the championship and he'd try to call a time out to calm down the players before they cut the nets down...what am I thinking he doesn't call timeouts at the end of the game.

With the exception of Missouri and potentially the SEC tournament, Georgia was as quality win as Tennessee is going to have the rest of the year. This was a must win and Tennessee won big.

1 down. 5 to go.

Yes, he's like putting a restrictor plate on a race car!

Three of those are road games, with the next two on the road, outside the LSU game, UT has been pathetic on the road this season. That must change to make the tourney, their backs are up against the walls.

Their backs have been against the wall for several weeks now. Some were just in denial.

I think he was fired because in 3 seasons at WF he never won an ACC tourney game. At least that was what the WF AD said at the time Dino was fired.
