The ZJC...He gone...Postgame Report

Three of those are road games, with the next two on the road, outside the LSU game, UT has been pathetic on the road this season. That must change to make the tourney, their backs are up against the walls.

The win at Alabama was nice, if for no other reason, we had won 3 times in 20 tries there. So, maybe outside of LSU and Alabama, we've been pathetic on the road.

Is zjc gone?

No. Just bustin his balls for not staying up and grinding out his postgame report. Mine was much more abbreviated than his usually are, but honestly, there wasn't a lot more to say. It was a fairly boring basketball game. Stokes play and Armani Moore's block being the highlights. I don't even think there was one dunk all night.

Thanks, we need him.

After that block the crowd got up and everybody was fired up and Cuonzo called a time out. It seems like he does that every game when we're set to make a run. He sure knows how to kill our momentum.

Yea, I thought the other team is supposed to call a time out when we are getting momentum.

Good win against UGA. I'm not convinced they are very good, and their record vs their talent (at least last night) seems like a mirage. I just didn't see one difference-maker in that whole bunch, but maybe it was just an off-night.

1. Second half defense was solid. Holding UGA to 6 FGs in the half was pretty impressive. We recovered well on switches, forced bad shots, and contested good shots. We didn't hit any of the benchmarks I've detailed this season for success (50%+ FG% and 35%+ 3-point FG%), and still won by 19. That's good defense.

2. Jordan McRae took 5 shots (only 2 3-pointers) and we won going away. I'm wondering if he got the message? Because...

3. Stokes was a freaking man inside. I'll take 20 & 11 from the big fella every night. 9-13 shooting too, so he didn't waste a lot of his looks. He even threw in 3 blocks and 3 assists to boot.

4. We still take too many 3's. Dino Gaudio kept pointing it out. That is a court discipline issue that needs to be corrected. Just because you are open doesn't make it a good shot.

5. Player of the game: Jarnell Stokes. Man amongst boys in that game.

6: Where have you been Antonio Barton?

Fired because he lost to the 2010 KY championship team in the NCAA.

I think he was fired because in 3 seasons at WF he never won an ACC tourney game. At least that was what the WF AD said at the time Dino was fired.

Correct.
Fired for post season performance, yet made the NCAA twice in 3 years as HC at WF.

For sure. Like I've said before I wouldn't mind OKC using their late 1st rounder on him. They need a solid rebounder and I think he can do what Collison and Perkins does for a whole lot cheaper.

Off topic, kind of, but man I can't wait till Perk is gone.

You and me both. Biggest waste of 8 million there is. I just don't understand why OKC can't find a decent center.

When they got him I thought he was the final piece, I was dead wrong. He hasn't done anything but scowl and make Shaqtin A fool on a regular basis. It is frustrating that they can't get a decent center, just a guy to get 8-10 rebs, a couple blocks and intimidate people inside.

Stokes' double double was impressive, but how about this boxscore line item: 0 fouls.

Has he ever done this in a game he played in, let alone one where he logged such an impressive line score?

I agree Stokes was the MVP of the game, but I also thought J. Richardson had a nice game as well. The block by A. Moore after sprinting the length of the court was my play of the night though. Loved the effort and hustle!

Nawh... that left handed, spin move, hook shot by Stokes was a thing of beauty.

I agree....Stokes showed some stuff last night that we haven't seen much of...his quickness is much improved and he showed a level of athleticism we haven't seen before....as he said...Get him the ball and if he's double or triple teamed he'll bounce it back out to the open man...I don't understand perimeter shooters who don't won't the ball to go inside first...it ALWAYS sets up an easier perimeter shot for them...

The most glaring ways that Stokes has improved his game this season are: avoiding foul trouble and free throws.

By avoiding foul trouble he is more of an asset to his team as a scorer and rebounder.

Considering how we played 1-3-1 zone for half that game, it is easy to see how the whole team would have avoided foul trouble, including Stokes. How much zone did we play last night?

A little. I was just answering your question.

Was the best all around game we may have played all year. We didn't shoot the lights out and still won by almost 20, that hasn't been the case this year. Typically when we aren't on fire we either don't win or it's a close game.

Great sign to see the defense picking it up.

I really think Barton made a huge difference purely with his scoring. If he can do even half of that every night we're a different team.

I'm sorry but this is stupid. Did you see the 2 possessions before that? We got up tempo, and in a hurry, and got out of control. That was a great block by Moore but I thought it was actually a good time out by Zo. We had lost our composer in those last 2 possessions no reason to continue giving UGA the ball after that great block.
