Okay, I collected all the intel I could in 5 minutes.

He lives in friendsville and has a blog somewhere, but I don't know how to get to it. You can take up the slack, Sarge.

There arent too many people in Firendsville. I got some inlaws up that way I'll ask around.

Interesting development from one of my research assistants: He has listed "The Great City" of Friendsville. My sources believe this indicates he has never actually been to Friendsville, and this may just be a ruse to send us on a wild goose chase.

I actually live in Enemyville, also known as West Memphis.

I know most don't care and/or are as proud of their kids as I, but here is a vid of my 5 yr old's first BJJ tourney. It's 3:00 long, but he almost gets choked out halfway in, which is why I am so proud. A great sport that is growing, in case you have kids and are searching for interests.

That looks a lot like what me and brother did when we fought growing up. I would have been awesome. Nice video.

That was awesome and slightly adorable. Spartan in training.

This being on a message board and all with no way of projecting genuine curiosity through tone or body language, I feel that I need to preface this by saying that I am in no way trying to be a jackass with this question. Is a sport where a 5 yr old is/almost choked out really a good thing?

It's a sport of great respect and work. They bow and shake hands after every match. I have 3 boys in it and they love the training and being apart of the team. They shake or hug after every match and each kid is trained on the rules, which include tapping if you are going to get hurt.

It's not for everyone, but my kids will know how to handle themselves if trouble occurs, and won't have to throw a punch or kick to protect themselves.

Last, imo, a 5 yr old is more likely to get hurt in baseball or football compared to BJJ. I know, because I have had 3boys do all and a broken ankle ended one's interest in football.

No problem with the question you posed. I never thought about doing this until 4 months ago. Now, I can't keep them from wanting to do it more.

I have no disagreement with any of that part, I was just specifically referring to the choking out part. I know you referenced a broken ankle as a deterrent away from other sports but I just meant the brain development/impact/stunting sort of angle. Seems like all the studies I hear about (albeit second hand from Real Sports, etc. type shows I watch, never actually read one myself) is that concussions or brain injuries are probably most important to track in youth sports. Which is why...

I agree, football at that age, any age really, is 10x worse than BJJ or wrestling. As far as getting injured.

I don't think a kid that age should be playing tackle football either.

Probably just over analyzing the idea but seems a little strange on the surface to allow a 5 yr. old to cut off the flow of oxygen to the brain of another 5 yr. old.

Wussup guys. Id like to post a picture or 2 here but I don't know how. Could someone please explain how to post a pic here from my android phone? Assume I know absolutely nothing about the site or my phone plz. That's not far from the truth. Sorry in advance for the imposition.
