First and foremost.....for once, I believe this is sustainable. CJH has done it at Missouri, UCF and now TN. Offense might ebb and flow year to year but opponents are gonna have to deal with it. In two years most have not done well.

CJH now needs the D to match the O's level, or close. #2 the OL now needs one or more steps to be elite for the system. Years past we'd say EVERYTHING needed and upgrade. It's been narrowed down.....takes time to dig out of a decade+ hole. But....the climb has been exponential lately. Just keep going.

NOT ONE! Who could tell me that after the PITT game that we squeaked by in Over-Time - That Tennessee would be in the position that we are in right now!

Josh Heuple - 2nd year Head Coach……

Tennessee’s pre-season schedule: PITT; Florida; LSU; Alabama; Georgia; Kentucky; South Carolina; & (maybe a bowl-game)……

It just doesn’t normally happen like THIS!!!

WAKE UP —- BVS’s & Nega-VOLS!

CHEERS! — And ENJOY THE RIDE!!!!!
I think the “negas” been awake. They were trying to warn the sheep that the other coaches sucked but sheep didn’t want to hear it. We can all be sheep now 😜

I remember standing in line with some Pitt fans waiting to get into the bar after the game. We all agreed it was a great game but they were still surprisingly cocky even in defeat. The usual "oh well our starting QB got knocked out," "oh you needed OT," "you guys are going to get wrecked by Florida in 2 weeks" yada yada.

Anyways. Wonder how those guys are doing now...
I live in Pittsburgh, and run into Pitt fans often. I’m outspokenly a Vol fan so conversations happen. I see a lot of coattail riding in that they played us close. Kinda like Mizzou did with UGA.

I’m convinced we wrecked their season.

Problem is they’ve also lost to GT, Louisville, and UNC.

Most logical people had 8-9 wins tops. Few optimists called for 10 wins. I dont recall anyone legitimately calling for 11 wins. There’s a chance they get to 12.

13 would mean the greatest ending in the history of Vol Football. New street names and statues would be in order.
I am always a optimist pre season and I had 8-4 the floor and 10-2 the ceiling. I did think we could end up with 11 with a bowl victory. But I didn’t see 11-1 regular season. I did think we had a shot at Bama or Georgia but not both this year. I figured LSU or Pitt on the road early would get us. We have exceeded my expectations and fill like if we get in the playoff we have a shot at it all! Sure hope it happens! GBO!

I thought 8-4 was the floor, 10-2 was the ceiling, and 9-3 was most likely. We're staring down the barrel of 11-1 and a playoff berth.

I did post before the Pitt game that our schedule set up well to surprise people, though, because football is so psychological and success builds success (and failure builds more failure). We had a mild challenge against Pitt that we should win. We barely did win, but we showed some character in winning that game in a way in which we usually lost. Then Florida, a tougher test, but also winnable after building confidence against Pitt. Beating Florida really seemed to get it going. We didn't know then that Florida wouldn't be very good (although they've come on late and really don't have any bad losses). We won a big emotional game and it just seemed to get things going. Then the bye week before LSU, which helped us roll them...a team we didn't know would be as good as they are. We controlled that game from start to finish and it got folks' attention. Then we used all that momentum and confidence helped us pull the shocker against Bama.

It just seemed to build. The schedule helped with that, because it also gradually built up from weaker to harder to even harder games.

Oh, I don't know EvOr. In some forgotten or ignored corner of a wilderness, some hermit shaman dipped a tin can into a muddy rain puddle, sniffed at it, and stirred it with his finger. Then noticed the little wiggly things squirming and forming a pattern of some sort. From this he saw the future, or claimed to. The shaman wrote onto his birchbark journal his prediction about the 2022 season of the Vols. The only thing he got wrong was he had the Vols losing only to the Minnesota Vixen by 12 points. We actually lost by 4 points.

There is a lot to be said about “learning to win”. That’s what this team has done. In the past, it has been the opposite.

A special season requires a lot of lucky bounces, and after an eternity, they finally bounced to us. Now, we create our own opportunities and EXPECT success.

Now that these guys know how to win, they must keep the momentum into next season and beyond.

I do not believe in luck. I do believe in teams, playing with confidence and more aggressiveness. When you play with more aggressiveness, you actually punch balls, you put your helmet on a ball, and balls, come loose, which creates more turnovers. I don’t believe luck has anything to do with it but I do believe it has everything to do with team chemistry and the way you play.
