There's not a penalty to harsh for PSU!

Am I the only one who thinks you can't take the Joe Paterno statue down? Joe Paterno is so intrinsically linked to Penn State that cutting all ties with the man means you literally just threw away your football history. It just makes no sense to pretend that the last 45 years just didn't happen.

Cutting all ties would throw away a lot more of their history than just football.
I don't think they can cut all ties because of that. But, an issue will be made of the statue during every one of their games going forward if it is left up.

I think PSU should consider erecting a statue of children in front of their stadium. It could be random kids flying a kite; whatever. The inscription could be along the lines of PSU never forgetting and forever being a leader against child abuse.

To assume that PSU would inevitably cover up a similar crime without NCAA interference is a leap bigger than the grand canyon.

It's not as big of leap as you think:whistling:

"CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP)
Miami coach Al Golden's second season at the school is beginning much like his first one, with new accusations of rule breaking, the looming threat of serious NCAA sanctions and no apparent end in sight for the long probe into the Hurricanes' compliance practices."

vols-1,

Do you seriously think there's a legit comparison between Miami's situation and Penn State's? Get a grip.

Well you must be blind if you cant see that the foundation at the heart of corruption for both schools has not changed. In PSU's case, all they have done is promote the VP of the university, who's been a PSU administrator for 20 years, to president. And move a long time boad member to Athletic Director. Who coincidentally played football at PSU during the scandalous Sandusky coaching era.

I see your point.... and I agree, the personnel decisions appear to be a continuation of "The Penn State Way".

Additionally, the Freeh Report omitted significant failures of the Board of Trustees.
