We canceled Thanksgiving a couple years ago after our youngest got married.

This has gotten ridiculous. 100 years from now, our ancestors are going to look back and laugh at our stupidity. It reminds me of the USSR in which the authorities knew that you knew you were being lied to and took pleasure in your submission to the lie.

They always come back though, you can never get rid of them.
Our son and daughter spend Thanksgiving running between their inlaws houses so by the time they got to ours they don't want to eat they just want to crash. So we just said screw it, we'll do whatever and see y'all on Christmas morning. Wife laid down the law about Christmas.

I know the feeling. Between parents and in-laws and step parents there can be a never ending number of places for families to go on a holiday. I prefer to be low on the totem pole and do my family stuff days on either side of the holiday when stress is much lower.

When we were first married and went to Little Rock to visit her family it was a 400 mile drive down then 400 miles driving between her mothers, her dads her aunts her gandmothers and her uncles because none of them liked each other enough to have 1 big get together.

One more thing, Fauci is an immunologist. He is an expert on the immune system. That in no way qualifies him to make public policy decisions which interfere an individual’s assessment of their own priorities and ability to weigh their own risks.
I have a cousin that's in the medical field- he's a PA. He is always posting about how dangerous the virus is and lockdowns work.

People at that level of training are specifically educated to focus on one person at a time. One illness at a time. Not big data, not statistics, not virology in most cases.

Yet people in my family are taking his word as gospel because muh med school. Meanwhile, I've been telling them the data (you know, source data that's been there all along in studies, etc.) is showing that this thing is almost identical to every other illness known to man and nobody believes me. I work in data analysis and research and risk management.

The data's still showing that, by the way, just like it was at the start.

All of the available evidence show that the virus does not differentiate between locations with longer lockdowns and mask wearing. The lockdowns were originally implemented in order to slow the spread because the fear was that we were going to run out of hospital beds, with the understanding that the virus was going to run its course. It’s beyond stupid now if not malicious. There is little to no risk if your under 70 and healthy.
