They were NOT going to let us win this game.

I just hate blaming refs. In any sport. There's too many opportunities to overcome a call that doesn't go your way. And we couldn't do that. We just needed 1 guy to step up and score 15-18 points. Everyone crumbled.
The Purdue starters minus their big guy scored 32 pts. The Vols’ starters minus Knecht scored 19. Our bench outscored their bench 10-0. We just needed a little more from our other guys. Estrella scored as many points (2) as Aidoo, Mashack, and Vescovi combined.

Rebounds: Purdue 46, Tennessee 26

If I truly believed the refs wanted certain teams to win or lose, I wouldn't even bother watching sports.
Are you new to sports? Even Seth Greenberg said it would depend on how the refs called the game on the ESPN pregame. They can control who wins and how many points are scored. Why do you think Vegas has over/unders?

I have watched decades of basketball and I have never seen a physical post like Edey protected by refs like he is. If it is a foul for a post defender to hold his ground while Edey is walking him toward the rim, then there is nothing TN (or any team for that matter) can do.

Really unfortunate our season was ended in a game officiated as poorly as that one was.

Refs had nothing to do with Ziegler going 2-13 or whatever he was. 2-5 from the free throw line. Aidoo being terrified and playing embarrassingly bad.
You’re right. These issue are on Barnes for continuing to think this is a defensive sport. He cares more about if a player can defend than if they can score. Works great in the regular season which is why UT will never fire him even tho it’s clear what his ceiling is.

The refs call what they call. Weather they let them play through pretty much everything or call every ticky tak - players have to adjust to how the refs are calling the game. We all knew Edey was going to draw a ton of fouls before the game even started, I'm not sure why everyone is outraged. We knew Edey was going to get his, and someone else besides DK was going to have to step up. Well guess what, no one did. And we lost.

Edey doesn't need any help either! He was protected by the refs and that frees a player up to be more aggressive. Refs are destroying sports in general, at all levels.

I want people to explain to me to draw a perfect gameplan to win an Elite Eight game down 22 free throw attempts
Well in this game the game plan should have been to foul LURCH as soon as he gets the ball in scoring position. 8 times they waited until he hit an easy layup and turned into a 3 point play. We would have been much better off giving him 2 foul shots each time because he only missed twice from close range all day.

What an idiotic post

I don't normally say anything about officials......But they shot 33 FTs and UT shot 11. That's one-sided to say the least.
Once again, I'm not sure why you're surprised. This was expected. It's always expected when Purdue plays because they have a 7'4 giant that no one can guard without fouling.

They got every long rebound on their missed 3s
