Had to plane some boards this week. I sawed them out of a White Pine tree. If you aren't familiar with these things, White Pine wood is just a step above corn stalks in durability. But they can can be good for non-structural work.
This planer is over 40 years old and in times gone by I had to rebuild the feed rollers on it. I removed all the original chains and sprockets, because when I would replace them with new parts, it was just short time planing until they began to slip. This week I had to buy and install a new drive belt.
I used an old washing machine motor, a transmission out of a riding mower, 4 or 5 pulleys, and a drive belt and it works fine now. Getting the drive rollers to the proper speed was a challenge.
Planing an old board can make it look almost brand new.
After a few fires, they will never know the difference.Ran out of grey plaster so had to finish in white. View attachment 352805
Bout tree-fiddy.@Orangeslice13 what's the going rate these days to clear a lot for a new build?
5-20k depending on amount of BS@Orangeslice13 what's the going rate these days to clear a lot for a new build?
Seriously though, we put water in the ground on the property. It was estimated at 4K not including meters. They had no issues and hit budget. We put power on the other side of the easement (40 feet away) should have been 4500. We hit granite and 15k later it was done. The BS factor can really change things@Orangeslice13 what's the going rate these days to clear a lot for a new build?
