I bought a house from the 30s that was renovated by the amateurs who lived here previously. Slice gives me much needed advice sometimes.

My girlfriend is graduating with her PHD in the Spring and we are moving, so I am giving up on things won't impact value or sale speed of the house.

Birmingham's food scene is problematic. There are plenty of terrific chefs and restaurants. A lot of these chefs are Black women as well, which makes it even better.

However, almost all of them are high end. There's not a lot of local places where I can get a good meal with no frills at a middle of the road price. As such we end up eating at Hattie B's a lot, which is a bunch of white dudes ripping off Black women and transplanted from Nashville.

Being a Knoxville native, I'm also use to have quality (when graded on a scale) chain options too. Most of the chain restaurants here are very hit or miss, which makes my cravings for ******** chain food hard to meet as well.

All that being said, highly recommend Automatic. Some of the best seafood in the city.

That is the top of an exterior wall of a small room the previous owner had built on to the master. I am removing said wall and putting it where it should have been placed.

The top plates of the wall (pictured) are over lapping by an inch instead of being mated properly.

My best guess is, whomever built it did not use a plumb bob. They eyed it and their eyes are worse than mine. Smh. Instead of restructuring it properly, they rigged it as you can see in that photo. I'll post the whole project in a week or so when I'm done.

This should have been caught by the inspector. It was an easy catch by an attentive third party.
