Things I'm happy about today

It’s funny how easy it is from our point of view as grandparents to pitch in, vs. how incredibly grateful the kids are when we can be there at times like this.

Although I do have this distant foggy memory of how exhausted I was as a mom with a new baby, and how fantastically grateful I was when one of the grandmothers turned up to help out. —days when you look at yourself at 4:30 in the afternoon and realize that you’re still in your nightgown, and that’s on a good day.

Thumbs up to the two of you to being able to be there at this wonderful time! 👍🏻 Hope your back is starting to improve. 💕

back is what it is (i hate that phrase) but getting into the flow of dinosaur bingo, floor puzzles, books (read it again, Poppy), bounce house (watch only) and lassoing lizard (butterfly net required).

they claim we're helping. momma staying in basement and wrapping up work with patients. son has always beeis big help with boys, but can tell he's tired. fortunately he and has moved ahead of deadline with book and wrapping up video chats with students/

2 sunny days ahead but snow re-entering forecast.

lol

I can tell you that once the kids outnumber the parents, which is soon to happen with your family, things go really, really, really different. We’re talking pure survival mode at that point!

Buncombe County (yes, the origin of the word “bunco” 🤪) removed the intermediate vaccine eligibility step of age 75+ to go straight to 65+.

Supposedly Hubs and I are now eligible to begin the transformation to Lizard People on February 1. 🦎 Assuming that we get enough doses, of course.

Bunco - just the word or the game too?

Well, I guess the game is based on the word, so... yes? Anyway, it’s legendary around here that “bunco squads” (police units dealing with fraud and swindles) were named after a congressional rep from Buncombe County who did some fancy wheeling and dealing back in the day.

Just reserved an old-skool Folly Beach house on VRBO for late April - the two of us, Hubs' daughters, and with luck my older daughter/ son-in-law/ grandson. It's a shack, but it's on the beach!
That's great! That's the beach I always went to growing up. Used to take 30 minutes to get there...nowadays it's like an hour.
