Things I'm happy about today

Finally finished assembling all the Christmas presents. Next year I am not buying anything that has to be put together. Bikes, Scooters and a Trampoline is too much in one morning. I am trying to get the kids to go outside and play.
Are your kids young? Mine are 19, 14, and 11 with all of their birthdays coming up also. I haven't had to put anything together in a while. We did take the trampoline apart 2 years ago when that hurricane came straight up through Georgia, then put it back together.

The boys are 7 and 9. The girls are 11 and 19. Girls are much easier until they get to be teens. So far they are great people. I am trying to teach them to be productive citizens. I try to teach them you have to work for things in life. I just hope they understand someday what I was doing.

I get that, and do the same. Thankfully we get a lot of comments from people about how polite our girls are. I take credit!😄 but my wife is good about that.

Joe where are you from?
Originally southeastern Kentucky, ky side of Cumberland gap if you know where that is. I live in northeast Georgia now. About 70 miles from Atlanta, and 45 from that stinkhole Athens😄

lol One of my best friends is from Athens Ga. He hates the Dawgs. Won't even talk about them. He says the fans are so bad, he just walks off when they start talking about the Dawgs. I live about 20 minutes NE of Nooga.

There's a few Vols fans I see around here, occasionally we'll give each other a Go Vols.

I remember one year my dad had worked a ton of overtime, and we had a really nice Christmas. And my mom realized Santa was getting all the credit from my little brother, he was 9 I think. So she starts explaining how hard daddy worked to be sure we had a nice Christmas, blah blah blah, and he never looked up from playing. Finally she says, "Do you understand what I'm saying?" and he says "My daddy loves me." 😂😂 They let it go another year.

I found Christmas spirit in an Advanced Auto today. Trying to get my dad's 4 wheeler going again and needed a new battery. Bought the wrong one and figured it out at 4:15. Got in the car and went back to Advanced.....they closed at 4. The guys that helped me earlier were still there at 4:30. Told them I had a question through the door. They opened back up, handed me the right battery and said Merry Christmas. I stood there and the older guy and I talked about our aging fathers and it was awesome.

God Bless and I pray for a happy and safe Christmas. I hope all of our posters that are having difficulty can find at least a day of peace and the families of those we have lost may find some solace in knowing that suffering has ended. This has been a tough season on our VN members and I hope that anyone that needs a hand will simply ask for it. It will be given freely and 10 fold what is needed. That is just the Volunteer way.

Update on Dad. They unhooked the first part of his life support today, the heart pump, to see how he did on his own. It went fine. I talked to him, so he could hear my voice. I told him that he was the only person left on this earth that could still call me red and that daddy’s girl was proud of him and also that I loved him. He cracked an eye and raised a eyebrow at me. Best Christmas present I could ever receive. The breathing tube is next tomorrow. He still isn’t out of the woods, but it is all in God’s hands.
