I let him swim away freely after a 5 minute fist fight, and I kicked him in the nads🤣. Actually, I rarely do keep fish, when I catch any 👀. I'll keep trout a couple of times a year, and some crappie. I've only ever kept one fish from saltwater, and it was a redfish.

If you’re not going to eat it, release it. 👍🏼

The flip side, if you kill it, eat it. This can be difficult when you catch something you’re not expecting, it’s not delectable (even edible), and it dies from the struggle.

Once, I was fishing for stocked rainbow and caught a native brookie. Rule was cannot take brook trout, but the little fugger had swallowed the hook. It was in its gut. I cut the line and put it in the basket. Watched it for awhile. It didn’t recover. I took it home and ate it.

And the taste difference of a native and a recently stocked trout is night/day.

Hard to keep fish when you never catch any. Probably a good strategy on your part

I dunno what it got up to yesterday, it was warmer for sure, but the shade and constant breeze was nice and we spent most of the day in the inlaws backyard, grilling, and shooting BB guns with my son. I made him a lil feedback OK coral of metal targets and bells.....it was fun. Mosquitoes were not too bad yet either. I really highly recommend making a BB shooting gallery if able, it's like having your own little miniature hickok45 setup, and fairly cheap to do.

This kinda stuff.
