That takes me back. I had a Huffy or two.Not my bike, but that is my bike. I killed mine, broke the top rail in an accident bent the wheel in half. (cleared a decent distance in the air as well) Not on purpose, rather I hit a curb hidden in the leaves at full speed. I'm still upset about it, because I loved that bike. I rode it everywhere further and faster then any kid in the neighborhood. It had 10 speeds and absolutely would fly. Ted Williams Free Spirit made by Steyer-Daimler-Puch of Austria, and rebranded by Sears. That's the same Steyer as in the Steyer Aug Rifle. Being Austrian it has the Euro style handles that I loved because I could ride sitting up straight which I prefered. Guys would be hunched over on their 10 speed racing cycles and I'd fly by sitting up, gears more then making up whatever aerodynamics they had. ......and It said Ted **cking Williams on the front. Just seeing this pic brought back such good memories. Other kids had tougher dirt bikes, I kinda wanted one, but on the pavement I was the wind.

My wife’s project bike is a 1975 Free Spirit with drop handle bars. I rode sweep on her test ride this past Sunday. It has a very low gear. Even in my granny gear, I had to pass her on some hills in order to stay erect. Not my bike, but that is my bike. I killed mine, broke the top rail in an accident bent the wheel in half.
