Hello guys and gals. For those of you that will be bringing your family here to Memphis next Saturday, I do want to let you know that we have The Midsouth Fair in town. I felt compelled to give this informtion because the Tennessee - Memphis game is at 12:00 and that is a 6 hour hike down I -40. So it will be a great day after Tennessee drubs Memphis 40 - 0, so you guys might as well make your trip more enjoyable by attending The MidSouth Fair.

Also we have Clicks here in Memphis, which is our UT Vols Fanclub headquarters here. It is a pool hall & bar for those that want to hang around and talk UT football while drinking cold beer.

Not getting robbed at gunpoint.

Staying alive, not in the John Travolta disco kind of way either.

I recommend going to Beale St. and the surronding area. Neat place. I went there this past winter when my girlfriends step-dad ran a marathon. Not an Elvis fan, but also went to Graceland and it was very interesting. Try both of those if you are in Memphis. You won't be disappointed.

4Real I live outside of Memphis and try to stay away as much as possible. Your taking your life into your own hands everytime you cross the city limits. Crime Capital of the World, but I will be there for the game. Just wish they would let me pack my 9

Memphis has been bad, but it is worse now because we share some of the crime element with Houston, Tx that came from N.O. I am not saying that everyone from The N.O. is bad, hell to the naw, however we have watched crime soar in what was already a crime stricken city. I will admit it is dangerous here. However what big city isn't ? All you can do is pray and becareful !

OK for diversity, there's a deli down near the Peabody, don't remember the name, but they serve a truly great reuben.
And there's a beer bar with hundreds of choices down near the baseball stadium, but I suck at remembering names....

Ribs at AllAmerican on Beale...
Ribs at Rendezvous...
Ribs at Interstate...

That ought to be enough tourism for me....

No sir No sir No sir. If you want ribs you have to go to Corky's Ribs and Barbeque on Poplar, Interstate on Third, or A&R barbeque on Hickory Hill or Bellevue. The Rendezvous is great but a distant fourth. I strongly recommend Corky's.

I've tried Corky's. Reminded me of Sticky Fingers here in the Scenic City.... good, but not an experience.

And truth be told, I prefer the brisket at Rendezvous.

Never heard of A&R, I'll for sure give that a try on my next visit...

If you ever need any directions, just pm me . I'll be more than happy to be your Volnation tour guide.

That bar would be The Flying Saucer its on the corner of Beale and 2nd, To any Vol Fan i work for Memphis Fire Dept i work just south of downtown, i'm telling u dont venture past Linden that would be my advice, ive seen many tourist beat up robbed etc etc. u got Memphis's finest neighboorhoods just south of Linden, Footeholmes and Clarebourne

I live in Memphis and enjoy my trips across the state seven times a year. Everyone should enjoy the opportunity to head over to this side of the state and enjoy a football game. The stadium is far less than we have become accustomed to in the SEC, but it'll do. Also, don't let crime talk scare you. Be smart - just like any town - if you feel uncomfortable somewhere, you're probably in the wrong place and should leave. Memphis has worked hard on crime and I feel safe everywhere my family and I go. Come to Memphis and enjoy yourselves!

P.S. People travel from around the country to enjoy our gentlemen's clubs if that's what you're into...

What's stopping you? Tennessee as well as all of the surrounding states have handgun carry permits. I carry a .40 Glock on a daily basis around the Memphis area. However, you would not be allowed to carry into the stadium (and I don't think you'd want the responsibility/liability of carrying a loaded weapon amongst 70,000 intoxicated individuals). Class is about $60 and permit itself is about $115 for four years. But I digress...

Why does Tunica get no love on the list of things to do after the game?

Don't get lost in Memphis. It can be scary city to be lost in. Especially at night in the Downtown area.

Any city can be scary to get lost in. I've been lost in New Orleans and am still kicking. Anybody that's a big sissy and not interested in watching the Tigers get their a$$e$ handed to them by the Big Orange just stay home and watch the game on ESPN2 or whatever. Maybe y'alls mom will come over and watch over ya. :cray:

Oh yeah, by the way, the Rendezvous is a must experience in downtown Memphis, if you can get in. Way better ambience and food than Corkys, although Corkys is OK. Will agree that going south of Beale St. by too much is not recommended but anybody that has been anywhere will be able to realize that.
