Tell our boys whey they hit the field to just pretend they are Austin Peay football players in their underwear!

Definitely can’t keep punting on every 3rd down either, while Florida is certainly not Oregon on offense I’m still irked over that punt, coach punt game. While I can see both sides of the argument as CBJ mentioned postgame and on his show about how you don’t want to just hand them the ball if you don’t convert but look at it like this, UT punted 9 times and only went for it on 4th down once when they were averaging 4.7 yards per rush.

Coach Jones said the coaching staff is looking for 4 yds per carry and that the math dictates a first down every drive with those numbers so why not go for it in a game like that? Now I’m not necessarily saying go for it on all of the 4th down plays but I would’ve gone for it on multiple occasions, they seemed to have been playing scared and coaches looked scared, In games like this one against a vastly superior opponent, sometimes you’ve got to throw conventional wisdom out the window and forget trying to “flip the field” or try and see if your defense can stop them because If and when an Oregon or a Florida gets the ball back whether it’s on the 45 or the 15 they are going to score.

With that said, yes I know the odds on 4th down conversion percentages are low, but in the Oregon game this would have been 9 more plays or maybe 6 if you look at the down and distances on each 4th down (4-4, 4-1, 4-10, 4-5, 4-3, 4-6, 4-9, 4-8, 4-1) to try and convert and give us a shot to keep their flamethrower of an offense off the field.

This is all just my opinion, I’m not a coach and don’t pretend to be but I think the punt unit should have stayed off the field in Oregon as much as they did and hope they do in Florida too, just my $.02.

Folks that claim to be Vol fans should be ashamed of wearing paper bags on their head.

I think they are ashamed of our pitiful lil peewees out there. At least they at the game. Look at the bengals.. they used to suck bad.paper bags... it only took them 20 years to be good..hopefully it won't take us that long. we are 8 years in now.

We cant lose the kicking game!!!

This right here. ^

Never mind, lets kickoff to Jeff Demps, Brandon James, or Chris Rainey a few more times for nostalgia sake. The crazy thing is that Parlady's opening kickoff to Oregon almost had the same result. Quit kicking the ball down the middle of the freakin' field to a guy with 4.3 speed!!! :mf_surrender:

Think I know what mean.... find creative ways to get the ball in his hands, out of the backfield if necessary at times, reverses, bubble screens, etc. You didn't really mean to turn him into a RB, right?

It worked for Da'Rick his freshman year when he was having trouble running routes. No excuse for North to be under double digit touches 3 games into the season.

By all accounts we a facing a far different offense than we did last Saturday.

Since FL doesn't have a high powered O with a half dozen Usain Bolt's at WR, we should be able to utilize man coverage more correct?

We Can't let Driskel look like another all-american by getting burned. The DB's and LB's have to maintain discipline in their pass coverages.

We Can't turn the ball over. Obvious and has not been a bad problem this season, but one or two TO's could be a disaster in what "should" be a fairly close game.

We Can't fail to get some pressure on the QB! Driskel seems to get flustered easily (by all accounts) and this is where we could create some TO's for us! Maybe Jacques helps some here.

We Can't go 3 and out a dozen times like we did against OR. This was the main thing we could not do against them and ....well we know how that went. If just a couple more drives could be extended, maybe we can stay in it till the end???

Unfortunately, we Can't depend on Worley to lead this Off against a good SEC defense. Please Dear Lord somebody step up and do well this week and "TAKE" the starting QB position.

As for the rest, run game, run D, WR's etc. who knows??

I do know one thing though, I AM SICK AND DAMN TIRED OF LOSING TO FLORIDA!!!!!

Come on Butch and Company and win one for the Chilmont...Gipper...Type...Guy!!

To paraphrase Maxine Waters. "GO VOL BEAT GATA!"

JMO, Flame away at your convenience.

.

We can't get drunk on Early Times either, and the rest I totally agree about.

We do not have the talent to win against Florida this year. I hope they play hard for 60 minutes.

How about summing up what we should do in the following:

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win. We have to play smart, play hard and win the turnover as well as the penalty game

2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE. We have to take advantage of every turnover Florida makes and score

3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam. We cannot shut down, this game is too important to let up like we have in the past. Coaches need to keep the players motivated and on the game through the 60 minutes

4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game. We already got a black eye by letting a team block a punt, keep them out. The rest goes without saying

5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE. Without question...

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made. If we can keep their kick return game to 10 yards or less. Or even better make them commit turnovers from smashing the carrier, this will be the ball game

7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes. See #3

Simple, easy to understand instructions.

He had over 680 rushing yards and 18 rushing TD's his senior year in high school. Wouldn't hurt to maybe give him a couple of reps in some interesting packages.

North was a QB in high school too. At this point, I'm thinking he couldn't possibly be worse than Worley. May as well put him in there.

The three and outs are killers. They wear our defense out. The up tempo offense seemed to wear on AP and WKU (albeit they aren't elite competition). It will be interesting to see how Floridas D handles it. They don't have the same caliber of athletes that Oregon has. I think we need to try some options and a mobile QB though.
