The new football training complex we're building. It's posted in the Football thread, BUT, if this isn't a huge recruiting tool, I don't know what is. I would be showing this to everyone.

This is a big recruiting tool. Facilities are always mentioned when reflecting on a recruit's first visit to an institution. I'm thankful for all of the donations and contributions that UT receives from a prideful fanbase that gives us the chance to build these facilities.

That's badassss. Completely over the top but that's what you need to have in recruiting to keep up.

That literally gave me goose bumps... My question is, how is this going to compare to rivals: A) In the SEC? B) Elsewhere in the country? I mean, does EVERY major program have this, and we are just now getting something similar? Or, are we THE JONES that everybody else is going to try to keep up with? Seems very similar to an "Arms Race" don't you think?

I think it could be that we are updating all of our facilities (i.e. stadium and now athletic complex), so the argument can not be made that our facilities are less than that of other top flight programs around the country. JMO

This is impressive. I understand that this will be great from a recruiting perspective but it makes me kind of wish that the university put this kind of money behind academic aspects also. Not that I'm complaining...:D

I understand it isn't paid for by the same money. I'm just saying that it would be nice if we could generate and raise that kind of money for academics so students could enjoy top notch facilities also.
