This Game Speaks For Itself

assistants recruit, scout opposing teams, keep track of player minutes etc. surely they have been in discussion with cow with how to bail some of this water off the titanic! these gals didn't forget how to play basketball over one summer break. there has to be something going on behind the scenes the general public is not aware of. yes i remember the 08-09 season and is was difficult going from national champs to an average team eliminated from the tourney b4 the sweet 16, but that team had only one star angie b and she was only a soph

Cooper and Diamond have 99 turnovers between them or 36 percent of the team's total.

They have also taken 380 shots and made 140. Why would a coach allow two guards to pump up 38 percent of the total shots when they are only hitting 37 percent.

The rest of the team has taken 625 shots and are hitting 45 percent. The rest of the team has 180 turnovers.

why is no one throwing assistants under the bus ? wth have they done to improve this team?

Absolutely nothing. especially Law(because she's the one that usually works with the guards and so far she has failed), If Holly is going to remain coach i want her to clean house and fire all of them.

When a zone is played by opposing team, the Lady Vols go into a swoon never to again emerge. Holly is responsible for the lack of offense and the turnovers against the zone. She has no clue .....continues to insist that the ball be passed inside against all odds that it will be successful.About 70% of the turnovers were a result poor coaching .Gird your loins LV fans .....there is much more to come. The LV are likely to hold the all time record for losses this year if Holly and crew do not see the light.

Remember the song The day the music died or America. Pie? Well this is the year that Lady Vols basketball died! It is gone and many people I know are sad today.

No more excuses for the coaches or the players. We better hope someone or something will turn this around. I am just sorry that the basketball world is going to see us be destroyed on Monday night by ND. We will be humiliated and I do not know that we will be able to recover.

Yes, our program has died! Very sad day. We have all seen our elite program turn into a house of cards; and the cards are falling very quickly.

It infuriates me when there's a suggestion (or direct declaration) this program is like a house of cards incapable of ever recovering. There are no absolutes in life. Ever and never should be stricken from the books.

Consider this: Five years ago would anyone have predicted SC could be a power in the SEC in the near future? No.

Basketball is the easiest team sport in which a program or in the case of the pros, a franchise can make a turnaround. All the Lady Vol program needs is fresh blood at the top (yes, Holly must retire), a couple of young ladies who want to wear the orange and can shoot at least 40 percent from the floor, and before you know it LV basketball is back.

Most women's basketball championships are won by teams with one of two true superstars who incorporate their special skills well with their teammates. One or two great players is the key. Tennessee has the tradition, facilities, attention and fan base to attract any great young talent in the world. The issue at the moment is the leadership (recruiting and game results prove this point) at the top. Our current head coach is NOT a tireless worker (recruiting or strategizing), towering intellect or master motivator. You get what you pay for, and Hart shelled out $$ for a lifelong assistant never known for her coaching or motivational ability. He took the easy way out (no national search for Pat's replacement) and is now reaping no rewards for his lack of vision and obvious disdain for women's sports.

One good hire and two high-level, legit recruits and Lady Vols basketball is back!

I agree to a point, but I would add the longer Holly is here the longer it will take her successor to return the program to glory. If Holly remains I could see mass defections after this season, with no recruits coming in... this could get really ugly leaving the next coach a mess that won't be cleaned up in one or two seasons....

Darth Vol, time will only tell. I hope Hart is smart enough to replace Holly if this disaster of a season continues, multiple players jump ship and no recruits are signed. (Will he have another option but to can Holly?)

A fresh start will be easier here than, say, what Tyler is experiencing at La Tech. This is my point: Our history (only UConn compares ... not La Tech, Old Dom or SC West), facilities and fan base will make the rebuilding process a stronger bet for the next head coach. A couple of legit stars can turn everything around quickly.

Women's college basketball is more about the one or two superstar system than any other sport on earth. Look at Pat's and Geno's championship teams as proof, and even Mulkey's run with Griner and ND's turnaround when they finally were able to secure superstars. It doesn't take a village in women's college basketball at the moment. This will change as more young ladies start playing at an earlier age. I'm not saying it isn't a team sport. I'm simply stating one Parker or Stewart or Griner can make all the difference in the world.

True, but those players don't grow on trees. Unless you can get a player like that, which is really hard to do, it will take more than one really good class to elevate the program back (ie the 09 team)....

Oregon and Oregon State are both up and coming programs with brighter futures than Tennessee. What is the incentive for the three young ladies from Oregon to travel all the way to Tennessee to lose to cupcakes when they could stay at home, play in front of their friends and families, and win? If I were Holly, I would be concerned.

Maryland made it to final four the last two seasons without a superstar. I'm not sure if they even had a first team all-American on their roster either year (please correct me if my memory is faulty). This year they do have two players on the 20-member mid-season Wooden list, but no superstar again.

Alyssa Thomas is better than anyone Tennessee has had other than Parker, Catchings and Holdsclaw.

Thank you. I forgot about Thomas. She was on Maryland's final four team in 2014 as a senior, but not the 2015 final four team.
