Judging from the reactions of some people in the game thread and in this forum, it's almost like some of you exclusively follow the Vols and don't watch any other college football games.

Newsflash: Bad teams hang in there against better teams all the time. Every Saturday there's always 3-4 games where I'm keeping my eye on the score and it looks like a major underdog is about to pull the upset, and then it doesn't happen.

No one talks about those games afterward because it's so common. But when it happens to the Vols, it's because the entire team is terrible and the coaches suck.

The only reason USA was in this game is because Worley essentially gave them two 14-point swings. The offense was cruising in the 2nd quarter. We go up 38-7 and the game looks entirely different.

Clearly, this team has issues. But I'm also seeing a lot of progress on the field. Neal and Lane are running better than ever. The D is better, despite giving up those long drives (and USA's offense isn't terrible either). The QB situation still sucks, but hopefully we'll see a freshman soon (if they're ready).

No, we're not suddenly the worst team in the history of TN football. We're not a 3 win team. Butch isn't a worse coach than Dooley (whose team would have lost this game in the 4thQ).

We got the W. It wasn't pretty, but neither was UGA's win over UNT, or any other countless example of ranked teams barely squeaking by their cupcakes.

Time to move on to next week.

You mean the game where UGA hung on to beat UNT by three touchdowns? I get what youre saying and I agree. I just want to play devil's advocate.

This team just fell apart today the defense stoped going hard and the recivers quit playing hard because they knew Worley wouldn't going to get the ball to them. The bottom line is this team quit playing hard like they done when Dooley was here.

This thread is valid. Worley is the reason we didn't beat them by 30+ we need something...I don't know what.

When this happens repeatedly, it suggests there is a serious problem. I hope recruiting fixes it.

We had two turnovers in the red zone, another they returned to their red zone, and a freakish field goal return after would be TD or long run was called back after penalty

It's nothing more - we aren't good enough to win and make mistakes - Butch says it every week

D turned in on last series and we won - be happy

North Texas made the Georgia game interesting last week too, but everybody will keep freaking out ha

This defense is giving up more yards and more 3rd downs than last year.
Until that is fixed they'll never score enough points to be safe.

The receivers don't help much..see Josh Smith drop, North not going for the ball and Pig not finishing a route...yeah Worley is the only guy on the field

The only thing that will help this team is GRADUATION. We lost the second half to a 5th year program. :ermm:

I feel like some people on this board wake up every Saturday expecting a team from the 90s to trot onto the field. This team has issues and that fact isn't breaking news. Let's hope they can improve for the November stretch.

You forget that we had a good offense that threw up points on the board last year. The defense blew games last year. This year the offense can't keep our defense off the field so they eventually reach a point that their gassed and start giving up scores. If you notice today when we had some sustained offense our defense thrived.
