NAPA's decision will end a relationship with Waltrip that dates to 2001. NAPA was sponsor for Waltrip for both of his Daytona 500-winning cars and moved with him when he formed Michael Waltrip Racing in 2007. The company took over sponsorship of Truex when he joined MWR in 2010 and as Waltrip's replacement.

Does NAPA have the dough to take over from Nationwide as main sponsor of that series? Since they want be back in 2014?

Its' actually cheaper.

"Anheuser-Busch sponsored the development series through 2007, then was replaced by Nationwide in 2008 in a deal worth at least $8 million a year to NASCAR."

Yeah, the figure I heard was, they were spending $15 million a year to sponsor Truex.

NAPA used to be a damned good parts store, now they are just like all of the others. The one we had here burnt and they didnt rebuild.

anybody old enough to remember the old Western Auto's? You could get anything from a set of brake pads to a Red Ryder BB gun, to a bicycle. Those were the stuff.

Well in knoxville the only one I know of is out in Farragut which is about a million light years from where I live on the South Side. Nothing special enough about NAPA to make me pass by the 20 Autozones/Advanced/Orielly's/Pep-boys I would pass to go there.

That's my biggest contention. Lack of stores.

Edit: I just ran a search. There actually are some in Knoxville closer than farragut. Nonetheless there is an Autozone within walking distance to me, and 2 other places less than 5 minutes away.

Ok thanks bud. Little known fact, there are more napas than any other parts store. The other guys just have more in the bigger cities because it costs so much to open a new store. Did you know that most napas are independently owned?

I usually go to NAPA first. The quality on their parts is first rate. A rebuilt part from NAPA means it has been rebuilt, not just repaired and cleaned off. Most of the other parts stores can't say that. Not just my opinion, i know many mechanics who won't use anything but NAPA parts.

I didn't even know there was a Napa store in Knoxville until just 3 seconds ago.

I not a mechanic so I don't work on cars, so I'm only in any store once a year to by car care products. Or when I need something like new wipers. And I'm going to the closest one.

Good stuff guys. Most of the reputable shops use our parts. The guys who want to save a dollar or two bounce around to whoever is cheapest and don't care about quality. I understand about going to the closest place for stuff like wash and wax but think about us next time you need a hard part or knowledge. Or try a NAPA Autocare Center. You can get 2 years/24k mile warranty on the repair

I will keep that in mind. Like Doozer said, I am not buying car parts really that often. Just the occasional detailing stuff.

Motor oil and filters I have to usually go online or wal-mart. Unless you all carry Rotella T6 in quart bottles.

Some stores stock that. If they don't then they can get it for you the next day. Just FYI, check YouTube videos about oil filters. You would be amazed at the differences. Frame is the worst on the market and that's Walmarts best seller. Always try to get a Wix Filter. That's who makes ours

I avoid FRAM like the plague. I usually go with K&N.

Best of luck with business.

Nothing against NAPA, as there is one pretty close to me, i have just always gone to Advance Auto. NAPA's website is not very good, in my opinion. The big NAPA store on Middlebrook normally has all the odd ball stuff that i can not get at Advance, but their showroom sucks as does their customer service. The Farragut store has a much better showroom, but they normally send me to Middlebrook to pickup parts.

For what it is worth, I have really started ordering all my non-time sensitive parts from RockAuto. They are about 40% cheaper on most parts across the board. For example: I replaced my entire A/C system in my Durango this summer (compressor, condenser, expansion valve, accumulator, and pressure switches) for 300$. Just the compressor locally was 230$ for the same exact compressor.

Autopartswarehouse.com is pretty good too. You can usually get free shipping adn find a 10% discount code online. Their prices are pretty comparable to rockauto.
