"This is my dream job!" (Butch Jones)

FWIW, the infamous TennStud from TOS said that when Jones spoke to the QB club back last year he let some members know that he would love to coach at UT. Here is the exact quote:

"Memphis high school coaches elated with selection of Butch Jones as UT coach. I've had numerous Memphis high school coaches call and express enthusiasm, something they have not been doing the past few years. Many of them have openly expressed high regards for Butch Jones the past few years, calling him a hard worker, and putting him in the category with Alabama's Nick Saban, Vanderbilt's James Franklin, and OleMIss Hugh Freeze as good recruiters in Memphis. Memphis high school coaches being complimentary about UT has been most rare and unusual the past few years. Several made the comment that now UT has a coach who knows Memphis is in Tennessee!
The UT members of the Memphis TD Club heardCoach Jones last year when he brought his team to the Memphis LIberty Bowl to face and beat Vanderbilt. He spoke to the Memphis TD Club again on Sept 17th this year, impressing the members each time. He can communicate, speak, well! He openly expressed his admiration for the UT job and to several members told them he would love to be UT's coach. Naturally, we are proud and happy that our school has selected such a hard worker, good communicator, as Jones. Far more important than us UT alums, fans, feelings, is the fact that Memphis high school coaches like Coach Jones. Hope springs eternal!
Several Memphis high school coaches even took the time today to call into sports radio talk shows to express their approval."

Butch also plays rocky top at practice. The stack of the little things he does makes me believe he's atleast going to get a second contract here.

It's like any other coach we bring in.. Recruiting will be key.. I think he's a upgrade in the coaching department over Dooley. Recruiting is what i worry about with Jones..

Sounds like he recruits his tail off. He knows half our current players from the recruiting trails. He now has Tennessee to sell to recruits, which just about sells itself. I think recruiting will be fine. Winning fixes everything

I only watched the press conference this morning, and was throughly impressed. I also remember being impressed at his team's creativity on offense when we played Cincy in 2011. I thought it was refreshing to hear talk about college football players as student athletes. I thought it was refreshing to hear our new head coach talk about how important honesty was to him.

This man seems to me like a leader who relishes the opportunity to help mold boys into men ... both on the field and off. Why is it so hard for everyone to believe UT could be his dream-job? I live in North Carolina, and all those teams (including Duke) are better than the Vols this year, and every single football fan I know still envies Tennessee. Yes, they poked fun at us during the search, but they envy our history, our program, our rabid fan base, and our facilities.

UT is a great place to play regardless of who on this board wants to whine otherwise. I welcome our new coach, and believe if he truly is successful, he is here to stay. I say get on board, and if you just can't, this is your perfect opportunity to be a band-wagon Bama fan.

I think when he said this was his dream job, he is full of crap.. unless your a former player or a life long vol fan like us.. how could this be your dream job?.. just my opinion.

I don't think we're truely his dream job, but this is his biggest opportunity yet. I'm sure he's excited to see if he can build a legacy.
