This is the most talented team we've had since 2016...

Hard to bring in a QB when Milton is the expected starter and Nico is the expected future. Not many guys capable of pushing Milton that would be okay with holding a clipboard.

We’re 3 deep on the DL and arguably the best DL in the entire country. We didn’t want to pay nolan 7 figures for a one year rental when we’re already so good there.

The coaching staff clearly believes that Merk or Moore Can handled the job. Again, no starter caliber QB is going to come to hold a clipboard, and it’s likely that Merk and Moore are better than the back up level portal options.

I’d have like to seen a RB, but I’m not stressing about that.

“Head scratching” is certainly an exaggeration.
Hahaha. You are making way too much sense my guy 😂

We don’t have a secondary… until we have a secondary and a good secondary none of this matters
OR, we have one till we don’t with our massively retooled and young guys with a year on them room. All depends on how you like your glasses pre-season.

Expressing negative hopes and expectations have zero value add for a real FAN. Blowing smoke too. Can justify HOPES, quiet fear, even if legitimate, is best left alone as statements, questions are better.

Everything this year is on the shoulders of young lad Nico. He has millions of fans worth of expectations bearing down on him and is being pressured to elevate this program like never before. That’s so much pressure for a young guy.

We’ve all seen his physical attributes and skills, but what about the mental? Can he handle being on the road in the SEC or will the pressure crack him? If we have an unexplainable loss midway thru the season and he has fans calling for his head and to be benched can he ignore it, or will he become a head case like JG?

I think this is the most talented team we’ve had since Phil was HC but there’s many questions to be answered so I’m keeping my expectations manageable.

My prediction is 10-2 with losses to both Georgia and Oklahoma, a 1st round playoff win and a 2nd round playoff loss. That to me would be a great year but I understand many might not feel the same.

You're only thinking about our roster. Other teams have talent as well
Yeah finishing at an average recruiting ranking at say 10th is still only good for about 5th in the SEC. The top SEC teams are loaded as always. We want win anything through any kind of recruiting advantage. We will out perform and out scheme teams or be in a minor bowl game

What do you expect??

You just coming on here, spouting crap that is completely false. Almost 1/4 of the roster is via Transfer portal, and you’re going to say they are against it??

And you don’t even have the heart to say “my bad, I guess I was wrong “.

No, you double down even harder and it’s annoying.

Hahahaha. It’s not a big deal.

I did completely debunk your theory that were averse to using the portal, and thought you might respond with something that actually added to the discussion, but an okay is enough, since what I said was the truth.

Cheers!

I hope you're right! The last thing I'll say is I believe we have deficiencies on this team that could've been addressed in the portal if we were more aggressive towards it.

I was just looking at the roster the other day and was amazed at how much talent Huepel has been able to recruit the last 2 years. This team is stacked with talent at just about every position. Especially along the defensive line. Now most of the talent is young. Which means that 2025 might be the more likely breakthrough season but man am I excited for this season.

I think we could be the best team in the country if all the young guys can live up to their potential.
On paper it might be the most talented team we have had the past 24 years. But like many have pointed out a large amount of that talent is on paper still. Sometimes the most talented does not always work out.. Look at Texas A&M the past few seasons....All those March Richt UGA teams, Miami the past 20 years. Half the Superteams they build in the NFL and NBA. Injuries, attitudes and domestic entanglements can burn the best paper roster down in seconds. There is a such thing as too much talent and its harder to deal with sometimes than not enough. Saban was one of the few that was able to navigate that in the modern age. Look at college football the past 20 years.

The one thing we do have going for us is the one thing almost all eventual National champions in the playoff era have had. A great QB (on paper).

I am leaning towards this as well. However, Alabama and Oklahoma are going to be true toss-ups. I can see the games going either way.

Arkansas and Florida are still going to give me the willies but I think we beat them. Getting Florida later in the season helps.

We haven’t had a secondary in years

This is what Dobbs4Heisman said in 2016 once season started - (hope this year is better):

Embrassing.

Putrid.

Disgusting.

I can't believe I trusted these guys to improve. I can't believe I thought Butch Jones was anything but a liability. I can't believe I thought Dobbs could pass the ball.

I'd like to apologize to everyone for everything I said over the summer. This team sucks and this QB is terrible.

Hopefully Florida blasts them next week and Butch Jones is fired on the spot.
Certainly one of the greats🤣

What point are you trying to make here? Cuz it sounds like you’re defending an absolute idiot of a former HC, but I surely must be wrong hahah
My point is 2016s failures weren’t all on Butch. He definitely is to blame for a lot of it. But in our losses that year, infield play was very subpar. That’s not all on coaching.

Better be finding someone to replace MAYS , Spraggins and basically the entire Oline, Senior laden Dline (Omari Thomas, Omarr Norman-Lott, Bailey & Simmons) THEN, All World Edge James Pearce. And 2 real leaders, Bru McCoy & Pili. Mays is so important to this team, we saw what happened when he was out last year. A one in a decade type center. Sure , there is talent coming on, but how quickly and how well they plug in is the key.

So our success this year is dependent on Nico?
