This is why I trust my own eyes.

No need. I was being kind of a smart mouth when I asked the op the question to begin with. lol
If you payed any attention to the qb debate we have here you would notice the similarities. Joe Burrow was BARELY a 4* recruit out of Hs. Obviously having trouble getting noticed (hence the message he sent in 2013). Looked over at Ohio State in favor of Haskins (I would assume). Sub par completion % (until this year). Transferred out to a team that stuck with him and the results speak for themselves when Ohio state could’ve just rode with him themselves through the growing pains and who knows what they could’ve been (prior to Justin Fields) had they done so. It’s a testament to the fact that the services NOR the coaches always get it right. It’s a thread having MUCH more to do with OUR situation than the teams Burrow himself was apart of. That’s what it has to do with Tennessee football. Trust your eyes, not the stats.

But you didn't post this in the thread where you're having a debate. You made a new thread for it.

Because I thought it was something everyone should see if they participated in such a debate. UT is in the EXACT same situation now and opinions are all over the spectrum. My apologies if you don’t feel it has anything to do with us but I personally felt otherwise. Feel free to remove it or whatever you deem necessary.

Yeah, you in the right forum now.

I am happy for Joe Burrow. That was the most emotional speech I've ever seen a Heisman winner give. Tear-jerker "Rudy" story of kid from southern Ohio who learned to eat crawfish.

My eyes weren't good enough to see the potential in him. I only saw a half of one of his early season games. He played well, but I thought Tua or Fromm would be our Heisman winner.

Reminds me of the old NCAA commercial...only 2% of NCAA athletes are going pro. Joe is one of those guys.

I still don't see him as a successful NFL quarterback.

LSU has surrounded him with so many weapons. Joe has somewhat benefitted from being in a great "system". We shall see on his future progress....

If given the opportunity, I prefer that the TItans take Tua over Joe. But, good luck to him.

Is the central theme you don’t trust score? That you’re a better talent evaluator than scouts/coaches?

You're talking about a kid that people failed to scout properly when they trusted their eyes. Ohio State's coaches were trusting their eyes. You think they're relying on HS stats to decide who the top prospects are?

No I don’t think they were trusting the stats. I think they were trusting their eyes as to whom they thought fit their system at the time under Urban Meyer. Meyer still would’ve been forced to resign given his “history” and Day still would’ve taken over and changed the offensive approach. The point is what if Day hadn’t gotten ahold of Fields? Ohio State would (likely) be at least a 3-4 loss team and the fans would be damn near rioting with how cocky they are knowing they let Burrow go.
