Not to mention as miserable as they think we ought to be for not previously being miserable over others who have not used their freedom to gain happiness. You lost me at Washington Post.
They want everything and everyone shut down completely. They want you, me and everyone else scared to death.
I’m not playing along.
I have. Have you? Really looked at them? Have you looked at the current trend lines for deaths? Have you looked at the demographics of who has died?I'm amazed at the Frign Ignorance here with the covid!! I want everyone to pass away lying on their bed with family and loved ones around them but seriously guys.... look at the numbers!!
At least that survival rate. But since a VERY large number of infections have gone unreported and particularly among the young who usually have mild or no symptoms... the survival rate is likely much higher than that- probably 99.9981%.No one has to do anything. Athletes can opt out. The bubble is safer than their homes. College kids and high school kids have a 99.9624% survival rate anyways. This is madness. Just say no to the Coronabros.
I am not trying to be a killjoy. I desperately want to have football this fall. But I am not going to engage in wishful thinking either. Like so many here are.Everyone has something to get excited about...and you post something like this? How bad do you desperately want everything to be cancelled. Good grief.
As far as I'm concerned the survival rate for healthy 20 somethings is 100 percent. At least that survival rate. But since a VERY large number of infections have gone unreported and particularly among the young who usually have mild or no symptoms... the survival rate is likely much higher than that- probably 99.9981%.
I think that's approaching struck by lightning probability.
Please try to comprehend: I am not saying I agree with UNCs decision. But my prediction is that more and more colleges will be doing this in the coming weeks and that likely spells the end of the 2020 season. So they had 177 positives out of a population of 30,000 students (0.59% positive rate) and they canceled classes. Remember when we shut down the country for two weeks to “flatten the curve”, which then eventually became nobody is allowed to test positive without shutting everything down?!? We will continue to have positive test results until the virus is eliminated. Eliminating this virus via vaccine will not happen this year and may not ever happen. Once a vaccine is approved, imagine the lead time to generate over 7,800,000,000 doses.
Here ya go, this better? You lost me at Washington Post.

Very true. Lightning is actually a 0.0333% chance so 99.9667. It's right there at it even without the unknown cases. And still, here we are having to pretend that the sun is going to explode if college kids get the China virus eventually, which WILL HAPPEN EVEN WITHOUT SCHOOL anyways. The purpose of the lockdowns and everything was to prevent hospital overcrowding. That's it. Now we know when it comes to younger people there won't be very many hospitalizations. Basic common sense precautions and enhanced protections and isolation for older people are the only logical measures to take. This will never end until enough young people get the China virus to achieve herd immunity which will in turn make it safer for older people. If you have greater odds of choking to death on food which school and college age Americans do then I'd say you almost owe it to the older generations to get in there and carry on with life. If you do get it you're very, very, very likely to be fine and immune in 10 days and then you're free again. The idea of starting school and then suddenly shutting it down the first time some people test positive is dumb to me. That's not a plan. A plan is to detect, contact trace, quarantine affected individuals, deep clean, and then resume. Otherwise we're just spinning our wheels for another year at best.At least that survival rate. But since a VERY large number of infections have gone unreported and particularly among the young who usually have mild or no symptoms... the survival rate is likely much higher than that- probably 99.9981%.

I mean they would have to be.I suspect that you are right. We don't have the details but more likely than not most or all of the under 24 fatalities were people with severe comorbidities.
Wrong on North Carolina schools not meeting in person. About half are having some in person classes.I'm not saying that this won't happen and I'm not saying that you are wrong, but NC has been VERY slow to move forward in opening things back up, and they decided over a month ago not to have in person classes in the grade schools. They have been and continue to be VERY cautious towards opening up the NC economy also. I'm also not saying that they are wrong in taking this approach - only pointing out that they are. I'm not surprised that they pulled the plug after one week - I'm more surprised that they every plugged it in in the first place.
Why do the posters who feel there won't be a season need to repeat and repeat that in thread after thread? Seriously, we all get it. You'll be right and the rest of us will be wrong. Okay, friggin enough alreadyPlease try to comprehend: I am not saying I agree with UNCs decision. I called my folks the other day. They were going to school when there wasn’t a measles vaccine, polio vaccine, and who knows what else.
As soon as I saw kids riding skateboards and bicycles with helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads, I knew we were in trouble as a people.
We’re so risk averse, someone who eats an apple without washing it off is now regarded as a hardcore badass.
