I gotta give a shoutout to the Big 12. I hate on it a lot because I resent it being tacitly equated with the SEC as part of the “Power 4,” but that conference is exciting. In some ways it’s closer to traditional cfb, way less money involved out there.

That said, the SEC was just as wild today.

Like the crazy upset Saturday in 98 and 01
Never forget Colorado throttling Nebraska in 01
Ok state beating Oklahoma in 01

Funner than hell to watch. I have never flipped between so many games that had my heart pounding. The expanded playoff has made CFB as exciting as I've ever seen.
The PORTAL and NIL have made this season spectacular if you enjoy competition, especially in the SEC. No more dominant teams winning year in and year out when Vandy takes down Bama and UGA has two losses.

Agree. The NIL/Transfer portal has FINALLY introduced some real parity into college football and I couldn't be happier!

Bama lost badly! That made my Saturday. 😁😂
Even better...we beat vandy and uga loses in the sec championship to texas. UT and texas are the only SEC teams in the playoffs. How sweet would that be?

NIL & the Transfer Portal has maybe brought more parity to the sport than has ever been seen. CFB is more fun to watch than it's ever been in my lifetime. Talent is spread out like never before. I believe it was the Nebraska Football coach who said these guys who used to sit at 2nd or 3rd string on a powerhouse team are now being the number one guy and getting a big payday for another school. That always happened to a degree (minus the payday) but now the powerhouses (no matter who they are) can't afford to pay their 2nd & 3rd string the big bucks they can get elsewhere.

Yet the NIL and portal have brought the worst to college football.

I’m really hoping for some strong leadership on this instead of chicken littles scared of every whiff of liability. If we can thread the needle with giving some guidance and guardrails on NIL, transfers, and compliance, college football could be awesome… and (virtually) everyone could be happy from fans to schools to TV media to players.

Do I have faith that the people at the helm can thread that needle (or even care to)? Nope.

I don’t think they will bump Georgia out in that scenario honestly. Georgia has played the hardest schedule this year; they’ve also beat Texas once already at Texas. Ole Miss is really their only loss that looked bad. I don’t see Texas suddenly beating them though either. Question is if Texas loses will they be ranked below us?

Not being a smart arse but...like what? A lot of people like to say "it's ruined college football" but they never really explain how. I don't think I know of anything monumentally bad that has happened. Are you talking about situations like with the UNLV QB? If it's true that the school promised him something and then didn't deliver then good for him - he should leave. If he left just because he thought his stock had risen then of course that's not right. Either way we don't know the whole story on that particular situation.

Players are getting paid, it's new right now...but they should be getting a piece of the billions they are generating.

Any other year? Maybe. Just not this one. Texas wins and it’s forever going to be “guess y’all need to rise to the level of Texas football” and there won’t even be any point talking weak schedules with them, either. They’ll just be like sorry, what? Got distracted polishing this trophy. This year is “guess you all need to rise to the level of SEC ball” year.
