She was actually offered the job in 1989, if I remember correctly, and turned it down.

Actually, I'd rather have them hire Geno Auriemma to coach the men. They're both so into one-upmanship on the other that they'd either cajole their teams to the Final Four every year, or they'd end up killing one another. The first would be great and the second would be kind of funny.

to give a fair response, the reason this is not a good idea is because recruits and players wouldnt take her seriouslyor with respect

absolutey not never ever will this happen. she stacked up numbers and championships in a sport that has on any given year about 5 teams that could actually win the national champion. in fact this year by mid season the championship could have just been handed to uconn. they are too much. even on a bad night they would struggle to lose.
in the mens sport, look at this year for example. before the tournament u could make a case for about sixteen teams to win the thing. Pat is a great women's coach. but it stops there. u must realize that there is a huge difference in the two sports.

Who said Pat Summit would actually accept the men's job if offered? She knows exactly why she's making millions, and she knows exactly why it wouldn't be the same in the men's league.

Yes - Pat Summitt should absolutely be the men's coach at Tennessee.

Further, I think Laila Ali should man up, resurrect the American heavyweight division, and take on Vitaly Klitschko. If you don't think she could do it, just look at her effing record.

Great analogy...lets see the last time I checked Bruce Pearl, Pat Summit, Phil Jackson, Bill Self...I can go on and on, dont acually play...they coach...they dont play...Ill say it one more time they dont play, they coach, so a man has more understanding of the improtance of rebounding than a woman? Basketball is simple like any other sport, recruit the best players and you win...thats how Pat has won, and that why North Carolina is always in the final four it seems.

I dont think Pat can out rebound Tyler Hansbro, but I bet she could coach him. Im just amazed this thread continues on....
