The NFL won't be around in 4 or 5 years.... hopefully. He was a true freshmen last year. Players improve over time. He's improved a lot this year. And he's still very young. Turned 19 in August. He probably won't play early in his NFL career. But like Tyrod Taylor, by year 4 or 5 he'll be a capable starter.
Dude, seriously lay off the pipe. You left off these names:
Calvin Ridley
Damien Harris
Bo Scarbrough
Najee Harris
Josh Jacobs
Rashaan Evans
Levi Wallace
Anthony Averett
Lester Cotton
Da'Shawn Hand (injured, back in couple of weeks)
Shaun Dion Hamilton
Matt Womack
Bradley Bozeman
Tua Tagovailoa
And probably 10 others on their roster who will play in the NFL. I'm no Bama fan but keep in mind they started playing their second team skill players on offense early in the third quarter Saturday. A couple of them, Jerry Juedy, for instance, aren't even on the list I just gave you. But they'll probably play in the NFL, too.
And what NFL busts are you talking about? Bama has more than 40 players in the NFL right now. You mean these guys are busts?
Julio Jones. Amari Cooper (200 yds receiving, two tds in last game), Landon Collins (best safety in NFL), Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, Mark Ingram, Mark Barron, Eddie Jackson (had two pick-6s today), Don'ta Hightower, Reuben Foster, OJ Howard (100 yds & TD today), CJ Mosley, T.J. Yeldon (long TD run today), DJ Fluker, Kenyan Drake, Jonathan Allen, Derrick Henry, Kareem Jackson, Andre Smith, Reggie Ragland, Chance Warmack ... I could name more if you'd like..
Compared to Pre-Goodell, the quality of NFL football is now really bad because of decreasing practices and more penalties.
Yes but all leagues go through good and bad years; to say the NFL wonÂ’t be around in 5 years is ridiculous. Despite all the bellyaching about it, itÂ’s still doing better than the other 3 major leagues.
This has got to be one of the dumbest threads ever started on VN, and considering the OP that's saying a ton. Alabama has an average star rating of 4.01 according to 247. They are the only team in the country that averages above 4. There are 18 5* and 52 4* players on the team. Yes they are a well coached team, no doubt about that. They are also by far the most talented team in America.
Greatest coach of all time + most talented roster = dynasty.
Go and look up the star ratings of the players named to the NFL All-Pro team. You'll see more 2 stars than 5 stars there.
High school star ratings are highly fallible. I trust my eyes over what the recruiting sites say and Alabama is not very talented this year when it comes to high level NFL players.

You do realize that the Bama players you are discussing are currently playing college football, right? Given the recruiting rankings, and given Alabama's performance so far, I would think the star ratings (which are meant to judge a prospect COLLEGE potential) are pretty much spot on.

No. Bama's greatness is because Nick Saban is a great coach. There are other teams with lots of highly rated recruits like Alabama that are struggling this year. See Florida State, LSU, Tennessee, etc.
For every Alabama that is living up to their recruiting rank, there is a LSU or Florida State or Tennessee that is not. And the biggest difference is the COACHING.
ITS ALABAMA AND THEN EVERYONE ELSE. Honestly, I was shocked by how much more talented Alabama's roster is than everybody else. As you can see, nobody else even breaks into the 70s in terms of their final score. But there is Alabama by themselves in the 80s over 15 points clear of everyone else. To put it in perspective, at least according to my rankings, there is a bigger gap in talent between Alabama and Ohio State who rank #1 and #2 than there is between #2 Ohio State and #10 Texas. THAT'S CRAZY. No wonder Nick Saban and Alabama are always in the national title game.
