This Moron Keeps Voting Tennessee 6th in his AP Ballot

This idiot Mike Berardino (a Notre Dame Beat Writer) ranked us at #6 for the second straight week in his AP ballot. He apparently has a methodology of some sort, but tell me how we are ranked below not only Clemson and Michigan, but Alabama?

Football Grid View :: College Poll Tracker :: Breaking down college polls every week of the season.
Tell me how Peyton didn't win the Heisman Trophy ---lost to a defensive player who played ....of course on a northern state school. He lost because all the northeast writers/voters are biased and can't stand anything below New York.

Bama has played only one team ranked in the AP top 25, and they lost to the Vols.

The Vols have played two teams - #6 Alabama and #18 LSU (on the road) and have won both games.

Yeah, this guy needs to have his voting status revoked.

Maybe Volnation needs to bombard him with messages.

Hard to understand how a team beats a team and they vote them behind the team that got beat.
If Berardino believes that the incredible Neyland home crowd was worth 4 points in the 'bama matchup... I'd say that's not unreasonable.

When you think about it, caring where others rate your team is just another form of high school and wanting to be popular with the "right" people.

Tennessee controls its own fate in the strongest conference in college football. Our resume will speak for itself when it counts.

Meh, it's defensible. I don't agree with it, but it's defensible.

Everyone in the Top 6 is close right now, including Bama. We only beat them by 3 at home; they probably win the same game in Tuscaloosa. Feels like there's a big dropoff between #6 and #7 to me, though.

Thank you. I am getting called out troll by saying the Florida and Pittsburgh win are NOT impressive.

At the same time, I think we will go 12-0 and silence the critics. I love this team.

However, I think we need to slow down hyping ourselves so much.

On paper, it took over time to beat a Pittsburgh team that is now 1-2 in ACC play and looks very bad.

Florida had a shot to beat us at the end of the game despite being a 4-3 team with their only SEC win over Missouri.

LSU was a very solid win on our part (perhaps our best win when you count margin of victories) but LSU did lose to Florida State in their opener and almost lost to lowly Auburn.

Alabama is one of the greatest wins in our program history and the greatest win of any team this year but I do feel it would not have been an W if it was in Tuscaloosa or on a neutral field (or if Alabama hit the FG or Gibbs makes the catch).

I am not trying to be negative, I love this team and I love the season. I am just saying we need to be careful about crying foul to our doubters because their is a logic behind it. Granted, you can tear a part a lot of teams like I did above.

That being said, I really do think we will beat Kentucky soundly and then go on and win in Athens.

If I read it correctly, Sagarin has us rated 5th and Alabama 2nd. At first glance that seems ridiculous.
But I think on average the computer gives a home field advantage of 3 points but it varies some I think based on the teams involved. Even though we won by 3 the computer might look at it as a tie or maybe even a loss.
It would be interesting to know what factors they use in their ratings.

Sagarin's rankings are a joke. They literally don't work until all 12 games are played the way the formula is setup. Even the owners of these rankings say that it shouldn't be taken seriously until November.

Someone criticized Tennessee during the off season when I talked about how strong our schedules were by pointing out our low Sagarin ranking all the way back in 2015. I killed the argument by pointing out we had 2 playoff teams (Alabama and Oklahoma) on our schedule that year.

I think when Tennessee beats Georgia that will spring Tennessee all the way to #1 which will cause a lot of people's heads to explode.
I don't. I think tOSU will be voted #1 unless Penn St by some absolute miracle beats them.

A lot of these guys want to vote for anyone outside the SEC. The "Johnny Come Lately" Vols give them a perfect opportunity to do it. If you check the site linked in the OP, UT lost 1st and 2nd place votes this week. More 3rd place. Same 4th place. Two less 5th. And the one guy who thinks UT isn't as good as Bama who they beat or Michigan or Clemson who has struggled through a relatively weak schedule.

Before the season started, I would have agreed. I no longer think that we automatically lose. I have always believed the team with the best QB most often wins. Hooker is much much better.
I feel the same way. UGA has more talent overall but UT has been developed into a really good team with a shot to win.

I'm talking about poll voters though. I don't think they agree with us.

I don't think Georgia matches up well against Tennessee. Here is why:

1. Tennessee can attack Georgia vertical which is their weak spot. I was in Atlanta (wearing Orange) last year and saw Alabama shred Georgia's defense (a better defense) with two good WRs. Tennessee will put up yards and points as long as we don't let Athens get to us which I don't think we will.

2. Georgia's offense cannot attack us vertically as well as Alabama attacked us. Stetson Bennett is not Bryce Young. When we put pressure on him, we are going to get him a few times. Georgia's offense has sputtered at times this year (notably Kent State and Missouri).

In summary, we will move the ball on them and I don't see them keeping up with Tennessee in a shoot out like Bryce Young and Alabama were able to do. Georgia's best hopes are that Athens cause us to make mistakes/get nervous or they take control of the line of scrimmage better than Alabama was able to and put pressure on Hooker. I actually like Tennessee's chances. I think Georgia is a team better equipped to win the playoffs but I don't think they are equipped very well to go up against Tennessee.

Possibly defensible, but how did you come up with it? Tennessee has the best wins of all other unbeaten teams. How do you defend them (us) not being number one?

Ohio State's schedule would be a cakewalk for UT. We'd literally average 65 against their playtime slate. Georgia misses Alabama regularly and they don't play LSU either. Their best win is Oregon thus far. When we are number one in those CFPlayoff rankings, don't be surprised. We've earned it. On the field. Whether the ⌨'s are willing to admit it or not..

NCAA College Football Rankings: AP Top 25 Football Poll | AP News
Check out this one.

He votes:

-Clemson #1
-Miss State moves up 4 spots after losing to Alabama 30-6, now has 3 losses
-Wake moves up 4 spots after beating BC
-Syracuse moves up 2 spots after blowing a game to Clemson
-Tennessee jumps Georgia after beating UT-Martin
-Ohio State falls 2 spots after beating Iowa by 44

This guy needs his voting credentials revoked. All jokes aside.

I disagree. Teams mature as the season progresses. Oregon is back in the top 10 after getting their asses kicked by GA in game 1. If we played Pitt this weekend, we would beat them by 28+. Teams have to learn how to win and the Pitt game helped to set the stage for the remainder of the season. The way that game played out would have been a loss over the last few years. Our guys struggled, but survived. Same with FL. We had lost 16 of the last 17 to the Gators. Winning that game meant more than a single game. The same with AL. We have learned to trust the system and coaches. Work hard, win, and survive.

No team in the country wants to play us right now despite what they may say publicly. These guys are confident and playing loose. I like our chances in all of the remaining games. Do we beat GA? Not sure, but it will be a heckuva matchup.
