I'll go ahead and admit that I do not want to come to the SEC, but when things didnt go down today due to Rick Perry holding out a little bit longer, I think us going to the PAC(whatever) is not a for sure, done deal.

That being said, I think when the Texas Board of Regents meet again on Tuesday, I'd expect them to announce they're gone. It saddens me to think that we will only get to play some of these other schools in OOC. It makes me sick to think that inorder to continue a rivalry with Texas, we'll have to use an OOC game to do so, when there is plenty of Stephen F. Austin's out there to choose from.

I have gone on record in saying I have no desire to become Ole Miss West campus. Thats about where we would be I feel. Atleast for now. Arkansas whooped us. Georgia whooped us. Its not gonna get any better if we end up having to recruit against Saban, Miles, and Meyers. Sure we'll upset some folks here and there, and we'll "keep it close" in some of the big games, but Im well aware of how long it would take to climb the ladder in the SEC.

I dont think we can out recruit in the SEC.
I dont think we are willing to go to the same measures that it would require to. That being said, again, let me remind yall, its not me taking a shot at the character of the SEC. Im well aware of Jackie, and Fran's issues here. Im just saying, its a different world over there. Hell, yall pride yourselves on it.

To summarize, I left yesterday thinking the PAC16 was all but done, and we we're going to be in it. Today, Im not nearly as confident of that. Whats left is the scary realization that Slive might be convincing our Regents, with the help of Stallings I might add, that its time to break up with big brother Texas. I think its a bad idea for us.

So while we wait and watch Slive possibly be playing the roll of the new hot office girl that makes you want to cheat on your wife of "forever" with, I'll admit that my confidence in my statements yesterday has deflated.

Thanks, and Gig em.

Say the longer this drags out the better the chances are that A&M winds up in the SEC. Who else we'll take is to be debated, I think ya'll are our priority target if we can't get the big Texas school.

Texas is scared.

I agree. A&M joining the SEC would allow the SEC teams to get a foothold in Texas and its fertile recruiting ground, ultimately leading to the destruction of the Texas empire and its monopoly on in-state recruits.

Not as long as Major Appelwhite and Mack Brown reside in austin. The SEc will still get the scraps they leave behind as far as recruiting.

Well, if that's the case, what's stopping tennessee? They're in the same conference. Yall insinuate the flood gates for all teams will be open. Its just not the case, and it won't be if you just get us and us alone.

Where did I disagree with you?

Texas A&M does not deserve to be in the SEC. If schools such as Clemson and Georgia Tech add nothing to our glorious conference, then letting in a nobody like A&M would serve only to damage our reputation.

TXVOL, what is the overall feeling there from Longhorn fans, are they excited about it. I'm wondering if this might not actually help A&M in recruiting as mamas decide they don't want to go to Arizona and Oregon to watch their babies play.

Sigh its all about the money and Texas A&M adds us more money.

and lulz at the Texas empire being destroyed by A&M joining the SEC. How about no.

The effects of SEC teams getting much increased exposure in Texas would assuredly assist in down-sizing the Longhorn stranglehold on in-state recruiting.

Why play for the Longhorns in the Pac-10 when you can come and play for 'Bama, Florida, and LSU in the best conference in the nation and win multiple championships? Or even play for A&M in the leading super-conference?

Texas killed the Big-12, and now the Pac-10 gets to deal with them.

Oh I know that, but are mamas of the recruits excited about having to go so far to watch their kids play...not to mention the other sports.

Don't kid yourself. Texas has always and will always get almost every player they want out of Texas.

You guys weren't exactly burning it up in the Big 12. So why should it matter if you aren't at the top in the SEC right away? You think the expanded Pac 10 will be much easier?

Why? Because they don't want to join a league where water polo, gymnastics, and hackey sack are taken as seriously as football?

thier reasons primarily seem to be fear of gays, liberals, and hippies. and no i'm not being sarcastic
