This team is getting worse not better

I've heard players saying after the T A&M game that since they weren't on defense in the second half the coaches were on the other end, we didn't talk to each other as we did in the first half, we didn't come out with the same energy as the first half, and we have to fix that. Well, the coaches, the players, and we know that too, but they never do fix it. That's on both the coaches and the players. These are pretty much all upper classmen, and they should be able to handle all these problems. Are they so basketball dumb that they have to have the coaches on their end of the floor to play good defense? If you know you need to talk more to each other, and you don't do it, what does that say about you? You know you have to come out with the same energy as the first half, and yet you don't.

I agree that a lot of this is on the coaching staff, but when you have upper classmen out there playing this way, a lot of it is directly on them, too.

We can talk and analyze all day about how good of a job the coach is doing, but at the end of the day, its the kids on the floor that have to perform and care about winning. I think most of the damage CCM has caused is the lack of mental readiness for games and the ability to deal with swings within the game. This team has a lot of talent, but zero drive, self-confidence, or fire to power through tough games and finish strong. If we got a coach that could recruit and knew the game, but more importantly could motivate the players, we would be on another level.

You mean Bruce Pearl.
