This Team makes me drink

I'd go so far as to say 07.

yep, that team had a shot at the SECCG.

7 years is not a long time to be down, but it feels like an eternity when you've been so use to winning all the time.

I remember when a 4 loss season was depressing.

Yes, UT played for the SEC that season but I wouldn't say they were relevant on the national stage. The regular season losses were total a$$ kickings.

IMO, you play in the SECCG, that's relevant. Would anyone have called Missouri relevant this year? How about USCjr? I know the latter wasnt in the SECCG, but they were still relevant.

SECCG typically decides one of the National Championship game competitors. We were relevant in 2007, people talked about that team. We barely lost to LSU who went on to win the National Championship against Ohio State. We finished #12.

If that's not relevant than Boca's standards are #1 or bust.

IMO, in this age of the BCS and playoffs being relevant means having a shot at the title. UT was last relevant in 2001...maybe 2006 until Ainge went down (wasn't UT ranked 6 or so going into the LSU game?). That's relevant to me.

Getting hammered by Cal, UF, and Bama often gets overlooked because UT played in the SECCG.

No, my standards aren't #1 or bust....Look at the losses. Go back to 2006, UT barely lost to UF and were in the mix until Ainge went down. They were relevant.

Who was talking about the 2007 team? They got hammered by UF and Bama and barely beat Vandy and UK.

They weren't relevant on the national stage.

They lost to the eventual National Champion by 7 points in the Conference Championship!

They won the Outback Bowl, finished #12 in the nation! Looking back now, I would take that team in a heartbeat. We were relevant. There's no if, and, or but about it.

Yea, I agree, they lost some bad games. The Florida game was especially ugly. What was it, 59-21, or something? But they won their division, finished in the top 15, and won 10 games. RELEVANT

Right now we are the laughing stock of the SEC, comparible to Kentucky and losing to Vandy. 2007 seems like a dream compared to what it's been like around here.

Currently I wait until the game is over, but the season isn't done yet.

Anybody out there ever tried to herd cats?

They were also close to 7-5! That team wasn't that good. In fact, I would put the 2012 Vols against that 2007 team any day....even with that horrible D Sal put on the field. I'd put the 2009 Vols against the 2007 squad as well.

Also, winning the Outback Bowl doesn't make you relevant. Do you remember who won this year's Outback Bowl? I live an hour from Tampa and I couldn't tell you. LSU, maybe? I know Iowa played in it because some friends of mine are Iowa fans, but I don't recall who they played.

Guess thats were we differ Boca.

"The Title" to me is the SEC championship. The NC is just icing on the cake.

I agree that 2004 was a long time ago ... but not 20 yrs.

The keyword was "almost".

I'm referring to the 1998 season and 2001 season.

That was the last time UT was relevant on the national scene for a possibility to play for the MNC.

The 2004 season was not mentioned due to the 3 losses for that year. One of which was to a 6-6 Notre Dame squad and the other two poundings were at the hands of Auburn....the eventual "people's" pick for MNC.

Should put this on a T shirt! :)

I'm REALLY surprised nobody has thought to do that yet.

Would also make a good bumper sticker, but I fear that Mr. Policeman might start Profiling.

About the same as your sense of humor.

It's fine. Just doesn't require being a smarta**.

Everyone's different though. No offense taken.

It's the best time of your life...trust me. You should savor every moment because in a few years you'll look back and realize how much fun it was.
