I wish for nothing more than I do for them to suck this year and cal to destroy their program.Posted via VolNation Mobile

I hate Kentucky just as much as Louisville or UNC fans do, so I agree...

but tennessee is basically under the radar we return everyone but egt no respect

As they shouldn't. Did you watch UT play at all last year? They belonged in the SOCON at times last season

I appreciate your empathy. I do not think you fully understand, though. I hate the Wildcats themselves as you hate anything that is evil, like Darth Vader or Nazis or Oprah. But their fanbase disgusts me. And I count many of my best friends among that ignorant, misguided tribe, plus my wife. In her defense, though, she was brainwashed as a child.

Is she from Eastern KY? Say, East of Somerset? Because thats a fairly common practice, to wipe a childs memory and replace it with 2 facts of life. Moonshine is great, and UK basketball is Gods favorite team.

So what is the basis everyone is going off of that UK is going to be great this season? Talent? Cal?.. Not attacking anyone's opinion or anything but I really want to know what the meat of the opinion is on why UK is automatically top 5 material right now..

My opinion of course...If you look at the landscape of college basketball over the last 5-6 years, the shift has taken place where you no longer require a solid structure of upper classmen and experience to compete at the highest level. (Granted it helps, but not required) Take teams with fab Frosh such as Kevin Love, Kevin Durant, Greg Oden, Derrick Rose, etc etc. These teams have made deep runs in the tourney, and carried top 5/10 rankings through their seasons.

Kentucky just signed a recruiting class (via memphis *cough*) that brings in talent on a level thats almost unheard of, and thats not me tooting our own horn, so to speak. Perhaps its also attributed to the media, which also jumps the gun when a good bandwagon gets rolling. Regardless of perception, the amount of talent on this team alone (with a proven coach) makes this a potential top 5 team with Final Four aspirations.

However, thats why we play the games. It could all fall through in the blink of an eye.

John Wall is an excellent all around player.. who will he feed the ball to that can consistently score like either of those guys did?

Really? First of all, there is a good chance Wall will do alot of the scoring himself. However, Patterson (averaged 18ppg) and Cousins (top 5 player in class) are not horrible options. (maybe throw Orton in here also) You might be looking at my point from the wrong angle. I'm not saying UK has any of the guys that I named. Perhaps none than can score like those I named, but overall the class is more talented than those.

A player such as wall that draws that much attention makes the scoring that much easier for others. IMO.

So you're saying Patterson will avg 18 ppg this season? What is the strength of Cousins game? Not trying to be a douche just really trying to understand..

Its hard to say who will average what, until it all unfolds. But Pat averaged 18ppg with Michael Porter playing the point. Which lets be honest, the passing efficiency and penetration ability of Mike is well.... lacking. Take Wall/Bledsoe/Miller all slashing the lane in the DDM and patterson could very well average 16-18 off of easy dump passes and offensive boards.

As for Cousins, I think it all comes down to work ethic. As far as talent and potential, the kid is a gem. Top 5 player in the class. 6-10, shoots the three decent, shoots the elbow/mid range jumper excellent. Also has awesome ball handling and footwork for a guy his size. Above average passer. He can bang down low, but also catch the ball in the mid range game and work his way to the basket. Basically he can be a mismatch for most big men in the country in one form another.

Mind you, I am only speaking of what "could" be, and what the potential is. Which is what everyone is seeing. he could turn into the next Randolph Morris for all I know.

That's the thing I'm trying to understand.. I could be wrong but I've never seen a team with so many new players and even a new head coach be given so much before the season even starts.. This could very well turn out to be a great team, but I'm not ready to write them off as top 5 until I see..

1. If Wall can use his strength to attack a zone like Rose did. I actually think Bledsoe is stronger in that dept than Wall

2. If Patterson will be able to thrive in more of a fast paced style. Keep in mind most of his points last season came from halfcourt set plays in which he spent about 20 seconds gaining position on the blocks while everyone kept their eyes on Meeks, and if Meeks put up a brick he would have an easy put back with no one boxing him out.

3. Cousins or Orton will have to be the bully down low.. Patterson is not mean enough to be the "Joey Dorsey" of this team.. which is vital in Cal's style of play

I just don't think Cousins, Patterson, and Orton can play together.. all 3 are great players, but the chemistry there is hard to find

Besides all the great freshman Kentucky is bringing to Lexington, who are some freshman to watch in the SEC. I'm assuming the Boyton kid for the gators.

Off the top of my head I would say watch out for John Jenkins at Vandy. Supposedly one of the best shooters to come out in quite some time. Of course Boynton at Florida, Aaron Dotson at LSU, Marshawn Powell at Arkansas, and of course there is Sidney at Miss St. However, chances that he ever becomes eligible are slim to none.

I live in Kentucky. I hate them more.

She is from Hoptown, but her parents are from Hopkins county, which is really a little piece of the east moved west in the New Madrid earthquake.

Found myself bored and browsing around an old thread. Found this gem. Not meaning anything by it GYP, just laughing at some of the stuff we say sometimes. I found a few of my own as well.
