Somewhere in between what you describe there. They're probably a Sweet 16 team. Unless Kris Joseph suddenly becomes Wes Johnson, I can't see them going any further than that. If nobody loses their mind and goes pro early, next year is their year to chase a championship.Hat, random question: A lot of people are hign on 'Cuse, but I'm not seeing it. I think they'll make the tourney, but I think they are nowhere near the Final Four caliber some have made them out to be. What you think?

Western is in the Puerto Rico tournament this week. That'll be a pretty good barometer for them.
Yeah, I played a golf scramble with McDonald several weeks back and he said the same, although he was 3 sheets and feeling good about his team. They have one more home game tonight, and then they open with Minnesota and the fighting Tubbies.
Unless their sophomores show a world of improvement and their freshmen are immediate contributors, UCONN is and NIT team again this year.
That's a pretty good field. Western and Vanderbilt have the opportunity to do themselves a world of good with a couple of wins down there.Yeah, I played a golf scramble with McDonald several weeks back and he said the same, although he was 3 sheets and feeling good about his team. I don't like Louisville's team at all. If they make the 'AAs, they've overachieved.Crazy how down UConn has gone in just two years. I'm really curious to see how Steve Lavin and St. John does. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the tourney. Also, I think Pitino and the Cards have a very good year. Big East is probably the most scrambled BCS conference this year.
HF, now after the Gillespie debacle, how do UK fans look at Tubby Smith?
I don't like Louisville's team at all. If they make the 'AAs, they've overachieved.
I think it opened some eyes for people who were so down on Tubby, realizing just how hard it is to compete for conference championships and elite 8's year in/year out at the highest level. There is more parity in college basketball than ever, and its hard to sustain that level of success.
He had his shortcomings, in that he was limited in his recruiting prowess, and the man admitted as much publicly when he said he hated recruiting. As for myself, I was ready for them to part ways, because it was obvious that Tubby had reached his maximum level of efficiency at UK and things were starting to take a turn for the worse. Gillispie-gate was just an unfortunate marriage between two complete opposites.
The blue goggled UK fan still hates Tubby and says good riddance, the rest of us appreciate what he did.
Their roster is horrible. If they make it, it will be on the back of a Big East Coach of the Year performance by little Ricky. Not that they can't beat UK, because it could happen without Kanter and the game @ their new arena.
I wouldn't say horrible. I honestly think that Pitino going back to his aggressive D and fast-break O will do good things for them. Also the Big East isn't as strong last year, so the schedule will be a little easier.
They're going to try to press defensively and push the ball on offense with Peyton Siva as their primary point guard. Good luck with that.I wouldn't say horrible. It is horrible by that schools standards, is what I'm getting at. They will not compete for a Big East title. Although they received a huge lifeline when the NCAA overturned their orginal ruling and made Dieng eligible.
