IMO, Travis Stephens' TD right before the hob nailed boot TD was the loudest I've ever witnessed at Neyland. I was there yesterday and '04 Florida. When Stephens scored, Neyland was literally (and yes I mean the actual definition of literally) moving and swaying.
1. Uga hobnailed boot game
2. '04 Florida
3. '98 Alabama
4. Yesterday
(Only game I missed in '98 was the UF game)

What was unique about yesterday compared to all others I've been to is how consistently rowdy and noisy the crowd was. That's never been seen by myself. I've also never seen 70,000 stay for 15 minutes after the game to celebrate. That was magical. It was one of the best, if not the best atmospheres I've been too, but definitely not the loudest.

I'm the exact opposite. I attended the 2004 UT/UF game, but did not attend yesterday's game.
When Wilhoit made that 50 yarder, it was the loudest I have ever heard Neyland Stadium. I've been to some exciting, loud games before, too (2006 Cal, 2006 UF).
I would imagine the ultimate Neyland experience would've been 1998 Florida, though. I wish I attended that game. It was magical.
I thought the Georgia/Vols game a couple weeks ago was one of the loudest I've heard Neyland, and I've been at 04 and yesterday's game.. It blew my mind the way the volume went up three times, depending how frustrated Murray was getting.
I agree - and I was also at the hobnail boot game - that crescendo of sound two weeks ago - I didn't think it was possible to get any louder - then it did - twice. I just stood there in awe with tears (I know - I know but they were there) feeling total joy...so happy to be a part of that magic
Wish I could have been there yesterday - my friend called and held the phone up for me and I could feel it!
I was in the student section in that game, and we were far enough away that it was difficult to see if Wilhoit's kick was good or not. And then this wave of noise came rumbling our direction. It was incredible. Probably the coolest sports-related experience for me. Ever.
