"He who must not be named" is trying to get the failure to monitor charge against him dropped. He feels that should go to Tennessee for not monitoring the program better and not directly to him.

I'm sorry, but I found this too good to not post here.

Dude is a complete joke. There's no amount of squirming that will help him. The NCAA wants HIM. THEY HATE HIM. They're ready to nail his bits and pieces to the wall any chance they get.

What else would you expect from this outstanding coach and great human being?

"I shouldn't be punished for failing to do my job. The school should be punished for not making me do my job."

Awesome.

didn't the NCAA say that UT actually did a good job with his compliance?

Looks like he wants to get off the hook by saying, "I did not inhale."

Let's see now, blame brother-in-law, check.
Blame UT, check.

Who is next?

Awesome.

What a great statement to make just prior to Saturday's meeting with the NCAA. This kind of irrational thinking is just what they need to hammer him personally.

"Former head coach and current USC head coach Lane Kiffin is apparently bringing two lawyers with him as well as his boss Pat Hayden. Kiffin's strategy/hope is to get the failure to monitor charge against him dropped by trying to convince the NCAA that personnel at Tennessee was in place to monitor he and his staff and they failed to do that."

I wish I was a fly on the wall to see/hear the NCAA reaction to this defense of "yeah I did some shady things, but they didn't look after me good enough."

In other news , all parents are warned to sleep in the kitchen because it's your fault if your child eats all the chocolate chip cookies in the middle of the night.

It is interesting, to say the least. It almost makes sense if you think of it in a scenario where Kiffin kept UT apprised of his actions, but no one informed him that he should stop certain things because they were against the rules. Kiffin was known, at UT, to live on the edge of the rules, so a failure to help him stay within them could be put on the UT compliance department and the UTAD as a whole. We knew who and what we were dealing with and what his angle was when trying to draw attention to UT and, for the most part, unleashed him upon the world without a filter. It could be seen that way, but I don't buy it. I don't think... I don't exactly work in the AD and I wasn't there.

It is your fault if you know the kid loves cookies and the child doesn't know any better and you leave them within reach. Other things that are your fault include a fork in an electrical outlet and getting shot by a 5 year old with your gun.

The keyword here is child. Something Lane Kiffin isn't , but damn sure acts like. My comment had nothing to do with not watching your kids. I was only trying to say (In a sarcastic way) if they are raised right they should know better. Thanks for the priceless advice though.

I'm probably going to show my ignorance here but what does it matter?

Unless the NCAA is going to come down on him personally, I don't see why he should care.

Has the AA ever gone penalized a coach AFTER he left a program? This would set a precendent and would be a great thing for college athletics but I don't think they can legally go after him now. He is employed by another university. To penalize the coach and new school because of something done at another? This is another lawsuit in the waiting.

In the end, we will bear the brunt of whatever punishment is handed down.
