In my part of Florida..which is mostly Gator fans, they were like yeah we lost..honestly, didn't seem like a big deal to them.

Annoyed.

Not really surprised.

Confirms suspicions about Driskel.

Need a new OC.

Seriously, this isn't a Muschamp or a Pease issue....it's a Driskel issue, and a lack of success recruiting QBs over the past 5 years. Will Grier better be as good as advertised.

For all of the guys we lost on defense, UF hasn't missed a beat. Easley will be a first rounder and Hargreaves in on pace to be our best CB ever, and that's saying something.

Pease is already being made the fall guy, with Joker Phillips waiting in the wings as the next OC. I feel bad for Pease...you can't make chicken salad out of chicken $h!t.

I agree that the direct and immediate problem is Driskel. He's just never going to be any better as a passing QB.

What irritates me as to Pease is that he ought to have realized that some time ago and, even if we could not land a top flight thrower, at least design the offense around the fact that you know that Driskel cannot a) handle complex routes; b) read coverages; and c) has no sense of the rest of the field once the ball snaps.

Seriously, did you not have concerns all of last year that Driskel is inaccurate and unable to adjust in the middle of a play? He's not good. And Pease should have realized that, imo.

Take a look at the QBs we've recruited over the past 5 years, and it becomes painfully obvious why we find ourselves in this situation.

2009 - Jordan Reed (moved to TE)
2010 - Tyler Murphy (career backup), Trey Burton (moved to everything but a passing QB)
2011 - Jacoby Brissett (transferred to NC State), Jeff Driskel (current starter)
2012 - Skyler Mornhinweg (lol wut?)
2013 - Max Staver (hoo boy)

Like I said earlier, Will Grier needs to pan out.

Lane Kiffin could do wonders for Driskel...if you are into store bought women.

I get your point. It is baffling to me that we can recruit so lights out on the defensive side of the ball but, other than dumb luck of timing a la Tebow and Harvin, we are the perennial Helen Keller on recruiting the offensive side.

Its f'ing the University of Florida! We can't get a top flight passing QB and surround him with 2-3 draft-worthy WR's? WTF?

I never understood the Max Staver pickup. UT didn't show any interest in him, and he's from TN.

The only coach we've had who placed an emphasis on recruiting and developing the offensive side of the ball was Spurrier. Since then? Meh.

Even offensive guru Urban Meyer didn't do anything to help?

Meyer brought a toughness to the team, including the Oline, that had not been there before. He also had Tebow, Harvin, and the now infamous Hernandez to work with on offense. And he recruited Driskel to be like Tebow, which is to say a run option emphasis. Who knows-- had he stayed maybe that would have continued, albeit not as effectively as before.

But right now we have a mediocre, one dimensional QB, with no reliable passing skills, who's passing sets are easily defended. It is tough to tell if any of our receivers are really any good, since no one is passing to them.

I'm not getting my hopes up against Florida. They always by some act of God seem to have our number. If we can pick off Driskel a few times I may start getting excited. Seems our secondary while young, like to ball hawk.

This. If I were on the outside looking in I would think if UT plays well offensively and just doesn't turn the ball over they would have a legit shot in the swamp. However, I've seen this dog and pony show before, UF always seems to play their best ball against us... I wouldn't be shocked if their O has a good game and then goes right back to sucking the rest of the year.

for God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

1 Corinthians 13:33

Now why would he give CBJ to his congregation, just to work against us?

Well, at least you can look forward to your first SEC win in two weeks.

Really?

If Florida plays against us like they did against Miami, we have better than even odds of coming off the field with a W.
