I am not saying this because he de-committed and has now chosen Texas. I have had this feeling since he chose us months ago. That feeling is.....

# Ht:6'1"verified
# Wt:198 lbsverified
# 40:4.76 secsverified
# Bench Max:305
# Squat Max:400
# Shuttle:4.62verified
# Vertical:26 inches

These are his stats off Rivals.com. I realize that "stats" don't always predict a great player. However, two numbers stand out to me like a neon sign on Las Vegas Blvd. Those numbers are his 40 time....4.76 seconds.... and his vertical jump....26 inches. I am a former professional volleyball player and I understand explosiveness, power, and fast twitch muscle fibers and how it relates to athletic performance. Those above two numbers...which are the gold standard for predicting athletic potential...are LACKLUSTER to say the least. If he is a RB, I do not see him having the ability to run away from an LSU, Alabama, Florida or Tennessee DB. If he plays DB, I dont see him catching a RB from the above schools. Maybe we did not lose what we think we have lost. Let's wait and see.........

my thoughts are only that he is the Typical indesicive teenager, who mad a quick decision. Once he saw the elite recruiting class he decided to go somewhere where he could play for sure.

All those measurables are only good for prediction sake. This kid is a player, proven on the field and we want him. He made statements after he left Knoxville about how he knew it was the place for him. I think maybe he gets excited during visits. NSD is a long way off and if this staff is still big on him they will bring him back! GO VOLS!!

Try not to sound like the turd fans when CLK steals a recruit "We didn't need him, his fast twitch muscles don't twitch fast enough" sheesh!!!!

i disagree but thats what makes the boards fun. I do think he is a great athlete but may have the Scroggins syndrome. Scared of a little competition. THe other thing is Gerald Jones has been criticized for some comments. Maybe Cobbs being a Tulsa native didnt like that vibe.

So you're saying Texas doesn't have elite recruiting classes year after year, and there will be less competition there?

Gotcha.

Really? How has be proven anything about playing at the college level. Plenty of guys come out of high school as four and five star players and are busts... Kiffin will fill his spot with someone else and all will be good in the world of UT football.

Sure he is very good player, but he is an athlete. It's not like we're losing a safety or WR or a LB. He is the same as Meline, as far as putting him on the field and seeing where he fits. Now maybe UT lands an extra safety or CB.
Besides it's still a long way until signing day, and Cobbs backed out with enough time for his spot to be filled.

The great thing about him decommiting now is that it gives this staff plenty of time to fill his spot with other great players!

If this kid wants to play for Texas and they want him, then good luck with the long horns who can't seem to ever finish like they recruit.... We only want and/or need kids who want to play for Tennessee, and Coach Kiffin and Co.. Hope he does well and I think he will... These recent De-commits are the reason our coaching staff just keeps on recruiting everyone , everywhere... I believe we finish at least in top 3 and maybe number 1

I don't see how you can say that with a straight face :) USC has more competition at QB presently than there is here, so much that he may never see the field. USC will continue to add elite quarterbacks each recruiting season, maybe better than the ones we get, maybe not. There will be fierce competition at USC every year. LK is modeling USC's program so eventually there will be better athletes here to compete.

The comment about Gerald Jones being criticized, what does that have to do with anything unless Gerald's a family member? I think you're reaching to find an explanation.

If the staff really wants really Cobbs back, they'll probably get him.

I think a kid should be able to play wherever he wants but what makes me mad is Cobbs said a while back that he just knew Tennessee was the place for him. Now he is saying he was never 100% on us and Texas is his dream. Wish him well at TX but Im not worried cause this staff has recruits calling and texting them 24/7 wanting to come here, per Lane Kiffin.

Midwest kids want to play for Texas or Oklahoma. Every now and then we get a stud out of this area, but it is rare. What needs to happen is the big 12 and other mid western conference shcools have to step up (especially in Texas). For example, when FSU and the U are winning UF suffers.

When teams win their conference AND they are in a recruiting hotbed, ie Texas, it's like UF. They can basically cherry pick the players they want. We will miss Demarco more than Texas neded him.

There are also quite a few months to signing day. We will make another pitch if he is that valuable. I have no doubt that regardless of who is committed to us or anybody else at this point, on NSD we will be talked about A LOT!!!

Anquan Boldin is about the same size and runs the same forty time...

But yeah forty time is the most important measurable in football. If you don't have a good forty time just GTFO. Forget about Jerry Rice, he sucks. Its a great drafting technique for Al Davis, and we all know how much of a drafting genius he is. I don't know why other NFL guys don't follow his lead.

Cobbs just needed to do some soul searching and made what he believes is the right choice for himself...Can't hold that against him...I hope We somehow get him back but if not I wish him the best.
