Thoughts on Demarco Cobbs.........

If his heart wasn't in Tennessee then it is best he go elsewhere.

+1. As long as he isn't playing against the vols, I wish him the best of luck. This staff will get recruits that want to be here and will get us back to championship level.

If the staff really wants really Cobbs back, they'll probably get him.

He's going to Texas. The only reason he didn't commit there the first time is because he thought Texas didn't want him.

Nobody, not even this staff, gets everybody they want.

Bryce Brown was a Miami commit and I remember reading that he was, at one time, considered to be very solid to Miami. Cobbs on the other hand has said Tennessee was the place for him but is since a decommit to Texas.

We will, no doubt, lose recruits and gain some and as you said, no staff gets everyone they want. This staff, however, has already performed more miracles that would be considered greater than bringing Cobbs back into the fold. I believe that if they really want him, they still have a shot.

I am not saying this because he de-committed and has now chosen Texas. I have had this feeling since he chose us months ago. That feeling is.....

# Ht:6'1"verified
# Wt:198 lbsverified
# 40:4.76 secsverified
# Bench Max:305
# Squat Max:400
# Shuttle:4.62verified
# Vertical:26 inches

These are his stats off Rivals.com. I realize that "stats" don't always predict a great player. However, two numbers stand out to me like a neon sign on Las Vegas Blvd. Those numbers are his 40 time....4.76 seconds.... and his vertical jump....26 inches. I am a former professional volleyball player and I understand explosiveness, power, and fast twitch muscle fibers and how it relates to athletic performance. Those above two numbers...which are the gold standard for predicting athletic potential...are LACKLUSTER to say the least. If he is a RB, I do not see him having the ability to run away from an LSU, Alabama, Florida or Tennessee DB. If he plays DB, I dont see him catching a RB from the above schools. Maybe we did not lose what we think we have lost. Let's wait and see.........

Here we go...

It seems some people forget these are 17yr old KIDS. They will change their minds, often, for reasons that more often than not make NO sense to adults. The kid is going to his dream school, where his family can see him play. No need to bash him or all of a sudden act like "he wasnt that good anyway". We will replace him with another highly talented player that wants to play at UT. I wish him the best as long as he doesnt play against the ORIGINAL UT any during his career.
