Most years, it's been hit rather than miss. Cal got a kid in Poythress who is immature and can't handle the big stage just yet. Reminds me of Terrance Jones. And Goodwin doesn't realize that throwing himself around won't get the automatic foul calls.

What mystifies me is after a timeout and set play in crunch time, Cal gives the nod to Goodwin, who's turned it over and taken wild shot after wild shot.

Starting to agree that this is an NIT team. smh.

Years past Cal has always had a few upperclassmen who were big contributors...not this year and you're seeing the effects.

Not necessarily. Who were the "few upperclassmen" that UK had last year? Miller was the only one, and he came off the bench. UK got the top class this season, but these freshmen arent as good as the class UK has had in previous years. The Cats just dont have a scoring machine like they've had, or a good shut down defensive guy.

Too much blame is being put on lack of upperclassmen. Thats ridiculous.

Terrence jones was a returning Starter who averaged 32 minutes 16pts and 9rbd...in Cals system that's an upperclassmen, who on this years team can you say that about? And as you said they also had miller, so you had 2 guys who've been starters and major contributors on a NCAA tourney team, once again who can you say that about on this UK team.

Don't forget Lamb.

Lamb and Jones were sophs. You said upperclassmen. I dont care what they averaged, sophs are not upperclassmen.

Older more experienced players dont win titles, talent wins over everything. And UK doesnt have it this year like years previous.

Lol ok

All of Cals previous UK teams had returning players who were major contributors the year before, not this, so stop trying to argue it.

UK had the experience returning last year, a senior in miller, who's that guy this year?

If it was all about talent UK would be a ranked team right now and in the top 10...they've got probably the most talent of any team in the country, it's about more than just talent, obviously.

Returning players dont win, talent does. Miller was last years senior, Harrellson the year before. If you took those 2 and put them on this years team...UK would still be awful. Put Anthony Davis and Gilchrist on this years team and they'd be undefeated. Doesnt matter what year they are, when you're talking Anthony Davis or John Wall type talent it triumphs everything. This year they just dont have that type of talent.

1. They're not terrible.
2. They're freshmen, we can't expect a lot from them, they have no leadership.
3. They aren't being pushed out by Cal. It's just we happen to have some of the best players in the nation for the last 4 years (Wall, cousins, Knight, AD, Noel, etc.)

But yes, next year I wouldnt be surprised to see them all go considering we already have the number 1 class with a chance to get more top ten talent.

This, and the fact that UK doesnt have the talent they've had years prior.

Ahhh Hardwood, I was really hoping we could be internet friends. Someone with your intellect is always great to have as a friend. That beer quote is just genius. I laugh hysterically when I read it. :post-4-1090547912:

As much crap as I've given Noel his numbers are pretty close to Davis...yet you're telling me that slight difference between the 2 is the difference in a NC team and unranked team? Ok.

Like I said, and you failed to touch on...UK has the most talent in their rotation in the country, so what's the issue, because it sure isn't talent. You're really trying to tell me Kentucky doesn't have top 25 talent?

And you're also trying to tell me trade Miller for Hood or Mays and UKs record is the same??? Haha ok.

The Kats had the number one class this year, no? Let's hope next year's number one loses as much as this one after you lose all that talent.

This is the first time KY has seen that Cal's strategy doesn't always work. They just don't know how to react to it is all.

It's an outlier. Back to normal next year.

Doesn't mean we can't be internet friends. I call some of my best friends the same, although apparently the Mods didn't seem to care for it.

However, the comment in which I was referencing ludicrous. :)

Having the #1 class one year can be completely different from the next. This year is a perfect example. Davis, Gilchrist and Teague were light years ahead of Goodwin, Poythress and Noel. John Wall's class was a great one, too. Him, Cousins, Bledsoe...that was talent.
This year, UK has Noel, and thats it. The others are major disappointments. Its a crap shoot, so far its worked out well. Really well if you look at the last few years and how good they'll be again next year. One bad year and everyone turns into a genius at figuring out the problems. One definitely thing its not is senior leadership.....its talent.

Yea clearly UK has no talent, that's why Noel is the only player projected to go in the first round lol.

Besides Noel, who is a super star talent? Who can score or take over a game like John Wall? Who can play defense like Gilchrist? Who can create a shot or make a consistent jumper like Brandon Knight? Sorry, I know you think you know everything about UK, but you're wrong here. Cats dont have the talent they've had in the past.
