I'm not sure what to think about this game still. If we were that bad defending the dribble drive vs Auburn, we may really be in trouble Saturday vs Kentucky. That, plus our recent string of turnover issues, it could be a rout. We don't usually play very well in Rupp, and we know we won't be done any favors by the refs. I'm not sure how well Kentucky as a team shoots the 3, too lazy to really dig into the stats, but I think this and turnovers may be the key to a victory. Randall is going to get his points, and Cauley-Stein will affect shots near the rim, as length has bothered Maymon and Stokes all year. I do know Kentucky doesn't shoot it well from the free throw line as a team, though. This game may very well be won by experience, and fundamental basketball. If we can shoot outside well enough, hit free throws and front ends of one and ones, and don't turn it over like we have, the more I think about all this, the more I tend to think we can win. That being said, we better not come out flat, or play with little to no fire, Kentucky will want payback for the ass kicking we gave them last year, even though only a few of those guys are still there. Thoughts, predictions? I'm going to say Vols 77 Kentucky 73

Going into Rupp and winning is a tall order. I think it depends on which team shows up, the team that beat Xavier or the team that lost to NC ST..

Hoping it is the GOOD team (Jekyll?) as I will be in the house. Tough day at our house as the wife is a Cat fan.
I really love her, but maybe not so much for a couple of hours tomorrow. :)

Kentucky is a poor outside shooting team; one of the worst in the conference. They are also a very poor FT shooting team. In a sense, they are the antithesis of Tennessee. They do everything well that we don't, and vice-versa.

They are big and athletic at every position; going 6-6, 6-6, 6-6, 6-9, & 7-0 to start. That will be a challenge for us.

This will be yet another game, where we likely have to hit 50+% from the field to stand a chance. It's maddening because reliance on shooting that well causes such scattershot results, as seen in our five losses where we couldn't hit water from a boat. We have to limit TOs and stay close in the rebound margin. Lastly, we have to make them beat us from outside. If we allow them free pass to the lane or to dump it into Randle five feet from the basket, we'll get run out of the gym. This may be a game where keeping it in the 50s and controlling tempo plays into our hand.

The court becomes awfully small when there are 13 players on it and only five of them are on the visiting team.

It will be a close game until midway 2nd half. The refs realize they're in Rupp and act accordingly. Some unbelievable calls let UK win by 15.

Is Kentucky still at over 100 FTA more than the next closest team?

You're fighting a losing battle with UK fans. I live amongst them and they actually believe they are treated unfairly by SEC officials. You should have seen some of the comments following the Arky game, amongst other close games.

Yes, it is quite comical at times

Ky has bounced back hard after every loss this season.
With Cal owning the refs there, Ky by 10+.
No problems getting up for the KYs. It's the Miss Sts that worry me.

There's no way to predict this game as UT has been wildly inconsistent and are greatly impacted when the officals call a close game.

Allow the bangers to bang and UT shoots at a decent percentage from outside - you have to like their chances.

2 fouls on Stokes in the first 8 minutes and KY will dominate in the paint.

UT jacks up a bunch of ill advised 3's and they will be in trouble.

Anything that might go wrong - CCM's fault.

I also live in Lexington and UK fans are absurdly ridiculous regarding the foul situation... they truly believe that their team gets fouled 3 times every possession and that refs only see one third of them lol

Caulie Stein is gonna be our biggest problem. . We either get him in foul trouble early or hit our outside shots if we wanna contend.

It will all depend on how we start and the level of confidence we have finishing up the first half.We have all seen that this team lives and dies by their emotions and self-confidence during games, so if we are keeping it close going into the half and KY doesn't make any huge runs on us to start the second half, we lose respectively. Otherwise we implode mentally and get whooped.
